New Stupid Ebay Grade
I think the seller was only trying to be fair- he could have used the "mint if it wasn't completely covered in scuffs and scratches, cracked in half ,and played with a constant loud click" grade .

Unused Film Track?
I know Tommy Good did record a version of it. Haven't heard about the one from Mr. Eckstine.

The Belles
If you read the liner notes to "The Mirwood Story " CD , when Sherlie saw the names and the pictures of the group who were supposed to be the Belles, she said she didn't recognize any of them. I think because Brenda was signed to Tamla and Patrice to Capitol, they had a group ready for touring. The Holloway sisters were busy moonlighters- I read somewhere they were also the Wooden Nickels for "Nobody But You". But don't quote me !

Ebay - Something Dodgy Going On
It must be a new scam. If it doesn't show up in your "my messages" on e-bay it wasn't sent by them or pay-pal. If you send it to spoof@ebay or spoof@pay-pal , they'll probably tell you it was a "phishing" e-mail. I know I got one about a week ago congratulating me on the new boat (!!!) I purchased and thanking me for the fast payment I sent. Of course there was a link to click on for further details.

Big Predicament.....what Do You Do When?
After looking at the pics... you are trying to convince yourself. I don't think it's even very good minus. I would ask for at least 50% back because of the overgrading or a full refund ! I know the Nu-rons 45 isn't easy to find but trust me, wait for another copy.

Will The Real Simon Soussan Stand Up
Once in awhile Simon did give the actual writers credit- "Girl Don't Make Me Wait", "Love Shook" and "This Is The House Where Love Died" all by Pattie Brooks. Now here's a good trivia question for you ! I was doing some spring cleaning this last week and found a flyer from a record store- their hot pick of the week was ..... "Uptown Festival " by Sam and Kitty (!!!!!) Was this an early pressing or something Simon did on the side ?

Q About I'd Rather Be A Blind Man
I would say Etta's is the original. Her version was recorded on August 23, 1967 and appeared on the flip of "Tell Mama". According to the "Essential Etta James" liner notes- "... I sang "I'd Rather Go Blind", a song I'd composed with a talented guy who happened to be in jail. We wrote it in the day room of thr Chino prison, and when I sang it that day in Alabama, Leonard (Chess) had to get up and leave the room . He didn't want me to see the tears rolling down his cheeks. Later he said, in his Old World accent, "Etta... It's a mother...it's a mother". I think Mr. Chess said it all.

Chess Label Variations
Not 100% sure on this, but ... The Argo label was renamed Cadet after a problem with the classical Argo label about who had rights to use the name. That's why the release numbers are the same. The original 45 was on the Argo label. The Chess release # is out of sequence with the rest of the releases and is probably a reissue. Hope this helps.

Vince Montana's 80th Birthday
Thanks for adding the link- I could never get the video to play in the original e-mail I received. Vince's name pops up on a lot of 60s releases from Philly, some 70s gems - A Brother's Guiding Light etc. so there's much more to him then the Salsoul stuff.
-
Vince Montana's 80th Birthday
Not sure how many people will be interested in this BUT Vince "Mr. Salsoul Orchestra" Montana turned 80 on February 12th. There's a video on youtube- just type in "Vince Montana" and it will pop up. Nice soundclip from Double Exposure runs through it all !

Fees For Using A Website ?
I was able to get on the website today with no problems so I was happy about that. I agree with Pete- lots of results never show up on the site- really don't think it's worth the fees they want to charge. Thanks for all your help !!
-
Fees For Using A Website ?
I'm not sure- I might look at 8 or so records a month- it's not like I'm checking 50 records a day. The fees did seem pretty steep.

Fees For Using A Website ?
I'm new to Soul Source and I've never started a topic before - hope this one doesn't get me into trouble. I went on a well known website ( or should I say sike) to get auction results and was told I was a frequent user and would have to pay a yearly fee to use the site. Has anyone else run into this problem??

Jimmy Clarke (is It Northern?)
I guess the question is what are you going to do with them? There's a few on your list I wouldn't mind having. Let me know.

He-e-e-e-e-e-elp
I think the Profiles is a completely different song. This "Raindrops" was written by Flowers and Acklin.
-
He-e-e-e-e-e-elp
No... you're not going senile ! I can help you with half of the problem- Barbara Acklin did record "Raindrops" on Capitol #3892. The part I can't help you with is what CD you saw it on. Good luck, let us know - might be interested in buying it myself.

Motown Covers
Hi Tony! I knew that- that's why I said it was turned into "He Who Picks A Rose" I agree with you about Gladys' version of "...Grapevine".
