  2. I don't know much about Derrick either. That info came from Keith Rylatt's "Groovesville USA" and from the liner notes of "Detroit Gold Volume One" (Solid Smoke).

  13. Concord was the original label for "The Gorilla". Here's an article from Cashbox (August, 1963) -
  14. I know the song has been mentioned a few times and there's already an audio clip but..... does anyone know anything about this clip? It looks more like a video than a television appearance. -

  16. The Concord label was owned by Howard Pittman who was a member of the Doo Wop group the Five Chances. Once the record became a big local hit, he wasn't able to keep up with the demand and sold the master for "...Gorilla" and the group's contract to Cortland.
