What a night, Martin, Brilliant!   We are so goin to miss this venue, one of the few now where the biggest part of the night is spent dancing.  Thanks to all the djs who helped make it so good, a better set of residents would be hard to find.  We don't want memories yet we just want to keep enjoying the great music played at Inner Soul,  felt sad travelling home last night knowing that our fave venue has now finished......T & P. xx

A great night. Got in early to do my spot, and stayed very close to the end. A great night with great people and the many friends we've made over the years. Thanks to our friends Cath and Martin and all others connected to Inner Soul.

Thanks for some fabulous nights at Inner soul.

Cathy and Troy

What a great send off everyone gave to Inner Soul last night.

Despite the big soul weekender we had a full house, on one of the hottest nights that I can remember at the gas club.

Thanks to the eight DJ's on the night who were fantastic and also to the club owners and everyone who has played a big part in the success of the club.

Over the years people and venues come and go but the memories stay forever.

INNER SOUL SHEFFIELD  28.12.2012---25.6.2016

First of all let me appologise for the length of this post but i just set off writing and couldnt stop.

Every few years if your lucky you manage to come accross a venue that just fits you personally. Its a different feeling for everyone but its just great when it comes your way. About three years ago after visiting countless same old soul nights i was pretty much well pissed off with the scene and ready for bailing out. Then after hearing good reports and playlists i thought that Inner Soul sounded like my vision of Northern Soul so i paid my first visit.I was nocked into a cocked Hat by what i found. :hatsoff2:

A promoter Martin Smith exactly on my wave length, striving to run a soul night the right way adhearing to all the traditional principles i myself find important.

Resident DJs Chris Brooke,Dave Brenton,Roy Dale were all friendly, knowledgeable, and approachable, with fantastic original vinyl records. Real Deal Soul Men.

An old skool venue that just captures you with a warm glow absorbing our music perfectly. A bit tired and worn at the eges but straight out of the 70s with a great dancefloor. It was a Northern Soul venue that screamed to hear the sound of dancing feet.

Add to this the great dancers, record collectors, and lovely people that regularly attended and you have the complete package and i had at last found my Northern Soul Nirvana.

As time went by i became an addicted regular and witnessed the growth of the club into a highly regarded oasis of traditional Northern soul. The records became better and top class guests were expertly selected by Martin to add to the mix. Each month it was the place to be. At its best the place created an atmosphere that was untouchable, and even at its worst it was still better than most other venues. It had that Northern x factor and Mr Smith had achieved what he set out to do.

A Year ago i was honoured to be asked to join the DJ team and became a resident alongside Martin,Chris, and Dave. I loved playing my records most of which had been in my box since the 80s. The guys all helped and encouraged me and i will be eternally grateful for the opportunity. We all blended together nicely and made a good team with me and Dave providing the early support before Martin and Chiris unleashed the big guns. It couldnt have been any better and it wont ever be any better. :(

Now unfortunately we have arrived at our last ever Inner Soul night at the gas club. Nothing lasts forever and as the saying goes it is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all. So lets try and give the old girl a good respectful send off. All the people that have played any part in the history of Inner Soul should feel very proud and the nights there will be talked about with warm hearts for years to come. I wish nothing but the best to all the team who have a very special place in my soul. We will all see each other still at other venues and the Scene of course goes on as it always has.

So this Saturday is all about the club and the people who have supported us since we started Inner Soul in 2012.

So along with me Chris and Patto will be a DJ line up made up of DJ's in their own right who have given us brilliant support during the last three and a half years, some of who have not had the chance to DJ at Inner Soul.

To help to give us a great send off we have Debs Askew from Rotherham, Mick "stabs" Wallace and Gaz Steele from Barnsley and Steve Powell from Wolverhampton.

I have enjoyed this venue immensely, for great music, atmosphere, and people. And are so glad to be making it on Saturday as both a Dj and dancer. I have made a list of the soul venues I have visited during my lifetime as yet that is up to the 200 mark. I have some grand memories across the country from 72 onwards, and such do I hold inner soul that it is in my all time top ten. well done to you all, you have entertained me perfectly, and I will be pursuing places in the future where you great resident Djs are on. See you all Saturday and let's really party out xx

There'll be quite a few regulars missing tonight but there's still a good few that will be coming.

People are travelling in from Wolverhampton, Derby, Nottingham, Alfreton, Barnsley and West Yorks and with the ones from Sheffield, Rotherham and Chesterfield attending it's sure to be another good night.

Alhough it's always sad to see the end of a club, tonight will be a celebration to three and a half great years and we've got a team of 8 DJ's to send us off in style.
