Following the recent, brilliant All-Dayer at CULCHETH, we bring you the next superb CULCHETH SOUL event!...SATURDAY 4th OCTOBER, Two Rooms of Soul, Rare 60’s and 70’s in the main room and quality tunes from across the decades in the Modern Room.

We’ll be getting a little bit GRUMPY in the main room though, as we welcome ‘GRUMPY SOULERS’ PHIL THRELFALL and ‘JUMPIN’ JOAN LIVESEY so expect some real, quality soul tuneage from Phil and Joan! Add to that one of the busiest DJ’s on the scene IAN WILLS with a box of tunes aimed squarely at the dancefloor, plus CUCHETH/ ASHTON resident SIMON INGHAM, together with Culcheth main man BAZ MALEEDY and you’ve got a great night of rare soul delights lined up for you.

The vibe continues into the MODERN ROOM, as we welcome back after his summer tour of the UK, SOUL SAM! Possibly the UK’s No1 Rare Modern Soul DJ (and definitely the busiest) SAM is back to entertain the CULCHETH faithful. Add to that ‘Mr Soulful 70’s’, STEVE PLUMB, Manchester Soul man NICK McKINNON, Lancashire TOP rare modern soul purveyor CHARLIE SMITH and new release champion PETE RATCLIFFE and you have 5 hours of quality Modern Soul from across the genres and decades ready and waiting for YOU!

So, mark the diary and put a tick by SATURDAY 4 th OCTOBER as CULCHETH, MUST DO…

GRUMPY SEE, GRUMPY DO....no ' Miracle ' just 100% QUALITY SOUL in the North West wi nowt teken out!...dosn't seem 5 mins since the last visit in May of the Runcorn Collective, JUMPING JOAN & PHIL THRELFALL, but a mighty WELCOME BACK it is so, polish up the shoe leather in expectation of a sweat stained workout, along with the resident CVH selectors and special guests: SOUL SAM & IAN WILLS.

A colossal collection of curators indeed, upholding the Spirit of Lowton, the East Lancs Tourism Trade...AND ' GETTIN' GRUMPY WITH IT' too!😉👍🎵💃🕺🎶⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👏👏💥

AS ALWAYS, with folk travelling distance to this event, if anyone is considering a stopover, then please browse the list of recommended accommodation within a 10 - 15 min radius of the venue. Check websites for up-to-date charges and any discounts.😉👍

CVH has a largish car park but it can fill quickly. In the event of needing somewhere to park, other than, there are several car parks, 2 - 3 mins walk from the venue in Culcheth Village. Note: pleanty of eateries available too for those looking to feed their faces before activities commence!😉👍

Fully expect Mr. Mills to furnish this to an anticipatory audience, for me anyway!😁👍

Looking forward to an absolute festival of rare soul selections from the assembled guests for October... here's just one you can expect to hear

For various reasons, I've done absolutely nothing soul-related for 6 months or so and have only ventured out a handful of times in the last two years so be nice to head down to Culcheth in a couple of weeks with a few records in tow - which'll be the usual mix of [what I hope are still relatively] underplayed oldies, the occasional acetate and maybe a touch of 'crossover'. (Great article by Rod Dearlove on SS btw - always ahead of the curve )

Fantastic venue and Baz always ensures that the sound is absolutely spot on in both rooms. Should be a good un!

A great follow up to the smash that was the Anniversary night in September - a special bit of Grumpy Soul magic always adds to the night and I'm so looking forwards to it already.
