Laura Lee was £100 on Marc Forrest list. Not sold yet. OTT I'd say.

Sold a minter of Skip for £200 the other day and I think Marc got £250.

Shep - fool to fool

about £50/60

Yeah I'd agree with that, books at £80, I'd ask £50 I think

Shep - fool to fool

about £50/60

I diud hear a rumour that this was don gardner but have no evidence to prove that it is.

love the other side "i'm sitting in"

sold mine for 20 quid before all the demand raised the price  and i'd say 50 quid now is fair.

Pete cheapest Ive sold a Velvet Hammer for was £20 around a year back. Priced fairly you should ask for £30 ish me thinks.

Surely Shep is James Sheppard of Shep and the Limelites fame? Never thought he was anyone else and from what I remember the voices sound pretty much like same person.

Definitely not James 'Shane' Sheppard and doesn't sound like him either, not even slightly. There's more chance of this Shep being John Noakes' dog than the former Heartbeat/Limelite...

Sold a spare Betty Johnson that I'd accidentally bought twice, not so long ago, for £30.00. Made a fiver profit on it, too! If the book price is fifty, I think the real one must be £30 or thereabouts...

look into my eyes , just into my eyes, £5 each to me ""look into my eyes"" rolleyes.gif:ohmy: ever been hypnotized?

Ok I consider my self chastised.

At Prestatyn when first asked Don had no recollection of the Shep disc. He later said it was him.

Shep - fool to fool

about £50/60

I'm sitting in is one of my all time favourites. I'd buy it if I had any money

Self-chastisement! Oooooh, missus.....

Sorry if I came off a bit schoolmasterly in my previous post. Actually I think that the late James Sheppard might already have been "the late James Sheppard" by the time that the Shep 45 came out. You may know that he was found dead in his car on the side of the Long Island Expressway towards the end of the 60s. I'm not saying he was the victim of a mob hit, but he had apparently been 'bothering' Morris Levy, infamous head of Roulette Records (who owned all the Shep and the Limelites and Heartbeats masters and publishing) about unpiad royalities...

Sad to think that one of the greatest voices of the R & B/Doo-Wop era never got to grace Soul music.

Apologies for going off-point here.

Hey no sweat Tony. It's probably in the book about about Levy and Roulette that you told me to read. I did and enjoyed it but my recall is clearly rubbish. In my defence though, I did say "from what I remember". Given we've established I have a crap memory surely that let's me off the hook. Possibly.

Finally, and going even further off topic, I thought I'd heard another Limelites record (or b side) with Sheppard singing without that kind of 'affected' accent that your hear in Doo Wop. Know what I mean? Like the difference between Gene Chander and Jackie Wilson's earlier / later records. Is there a term to describe it? Am I making myself clear even?

if not it's back to the self chastisement till the postman comes.

I really should rephrase that last sentence.

You might be thinking of "Everything's Gonna Be Alright", which is about their best (and possibly only) dancer and is a very good record, too.

Don't know as there's a term for what you describe, but I do klnow excatly what you mean!

I've already had my postman (not literally) - he brought me a copy of Jerry Williams' "Let's Do the Wobble (Before Chubby Gets It)" on V-Tone. Crap record, but who could resist a title like that?

Way off point now, so I'm outa here...
