Most Danced To Tune At Wigan

Went to Wigan from March 1978 until it closed.

Without doubt the three biggest tunes in this time were "Hey Liitle Way Out Girl", which was followed by "Country Girl" and then "I don't like to lose" in that chronological order. They weren't the most danced to, however, as Searling had the only copies and you only got to hear them once a night.

I would say that the most danced to tune during this period, apart from the three before eight, was Bobby Paris "I walked away". I've got a tape of the last 90 mins of the fifth anniversary (Sept. 1978) and it gets played twice, once by Alan Rhodes and then again by Winstanley at about 7.30 a.m. Judging by the sound of the clapping, this had the most people on the dance floor.

Sound quality ain't to good for the first three tracks as I was sitting close to the stage by the gents toilets. I then moved up onto the balcony by the tea bar and it's a lot clearer.

Panic / I go to pieces was released on Casino Classics and that night hence Winstanley pugging in at the end.

If only our MP's followed your lead in the honesty department....I had an issue and later on a demo - what a sucker eh? Thinking of tunes from the dark (pop) side, Keith was a pretty popular tune back in '74 too!

I never knew the seeds pushin too hard was played at wigan thats an out and out us garage track.

Correct but an instant floor packer in its day all the same mate - other Wigan plays would be hard pushed to beat it for conviction-driven in unison hand claps (I drew that out a bit didn't I?).

An awesome Wigan moment.
