Bought the LP in Fox's in Doncaster and was gobsmacked to find the Top nighter sound on the LP.

But not as gobsmacked as Pat was when I played it an hour before he came on - uncovered!

Curiously, from the same stash, I uncovered Richards, Sandy Linzer cover up - Reuben Howell "Can't Stop A Man In Love".

Became convinced that the Top DJ's only shopped at bargain basement stores for their rarities - and then I made a career of it!

One is just a slightly different version to the other though, as far as I can tell Frankie Karl / Aviators is the same record apart from one intro being longer

i wonder who uncovered joe mathews or did richard reveal it himself, although the exclusiveness of that one record attracted thousands to the casino,so maybe not!!

I remember selling copies by the boxload to Pat.

I had reviewed the record in Black Echoes long before it was played on the scene. Apart from having hundreds of copies I assumed everyone would have instantly recognised the voice.

It was Guy who put me on to it about 75/76.

I had been around to his house, I took some of my unknows and he was playing me some of his.

He was still living in Skipton at the time.

I dont know if there has ever been a thread on here concerning covered up records that sound nothing like the artists they were covered up as, if not i would suggest a couple Cecil Washington aka Joe Matthews-nothing like Joe and General Assembley aka Don Varner again nothing like Don.

funny you should mention that about the chandlers c/up as i had pats copy for a good few years (eastern silver issue ,the indentation of the c/up label had permanently marked it!)sold it on to glen hunter . only played the ballad on flip as i remember, a side yuk :(just to add i only presumed it was pats copy unless more djs had it at the same time?

Richard searling made the mistake of saying the correct title holder of the record and talking out loud "oh sugar" and that was that.Didnt lose but in the end liked to.

I remember Richard playing The Four Reputation " Call on me " on Millage at Stafford C/U , I went up to him and said I've got this [ bought it a few weeks before by The Presentations for £5 ] anyway on hearing this news he uncovered it right in front of me .Didn't have the heart to tell him it wasn't the copy that I'd got !! Though they are pretty similar .Best,Eddie

Story goes my brother Mick uncovered lots of Casino tunes. Apparently he used to buy em of Richard and uncover them the same night in the record bar.

can't be certain what tunes they were as I was a youth then and not paying too much attention to the records.

there was also that other one by butch not sure if it was ever uncovered, cant remember who it was by but recall it was called 'thats when you know youre in love' cracking tune. was a clip on here somewhere but pretty bad quality. been around a long time tho
