Mid 70s bootleg a few others came out on this lable but can't remember the titles off the top of my head.

It's a legit US reissue label run by Bill Buster and i think it's Penn. but not Philly

First Eric 45 I remember having was a Mitch Ryder one. I think it coupled Breakout and Devil with the Blue Dress. Then there was that 'Promised Land' by Cheyene. Sounded like Soussan making a Northern Soul Western movie theme.

And I always thought they were bootlegs I bought mine at the Casino and I still have the Bernie Williams and I think another one on the same lable , learn something every day eh !

Just sold a frank beverley on sassy with the same stamp , so must be a second issue.surely frankford/wayne stamp would,nt be on a boot.

All stamps show is the company that manufactured a record and some info like the year etc in some cases. Monarch was a legit organisation and lots of original records have a Monarch stamp.

But so do loads of boots as a shedload of counterfeits were pressed up by Monarch in the 70s.

Bill's on the west coast now, but he's still running Eric as a CD-only reissue label and he's still legit. Nice man...

there must be some connection in the music world because some british records have accreditatations to eric records at the bottom of the label.

These were licensed reissues and were all from the amy-mala-bell group; tony middleton, lou ragland, bernie williams, gerri granger. Later they did Chris Cerf but that looked dodgy. I can remember, that hit the Casino big style that week, all of them were sounds still being played. Tobi Legend and Panic came a year earlier.

Got a few pop records on the label,jerry and the pacemakers,moody blues etc and a album Radio WMXH or something simular.

Yeah that's what I meant Rod. All white ones weren't they? At the time that the rest of the label's (or is that lable?) output was black and red with silver print. Or very dark brown rather than black if we're to be ultra pedantic.

It always felt like it was a release specifically for the Northern scene, which is ironic as I never remember it being played anywhere - you just ended up with it. strings and percussion sounded similar to that "soul fox' sound though don't you think? Not saying they were - maybe just a coincidence. Or my ears...

Should have made it clear that I wasn't actually suggesting it was a tailor made. I just suspected so at the time. It's intrigued me so long though that I'd really like to know its origins.
