July 1, 201014 yr well said mark. too many people say they did and actually didnt, just ask the right questions and you know. who knows the first name of mrs woods on the door ,( see how quick you can google it, im timin.) its like a badge of honour. maybe 200 at the most for me......... never the mecca, always heard bad things, blowing whistles and stuff. i believe i missed a great time. not the torch or the wheel either, name story.
July 1, 201014 yr Good question, Bruce's membership card was 007............... I know a lad who was number 002... But don't forget it was the luck of the draw. You had to apply for membership, by post, and be a member 24 hours before the event. ATB Tony

July 25, 201014 yr First went in 1975, i was nearly 14 (don't think i was the youngest ) after that maybe 4 times until 1977 , got a job just so i could go everyweek and i did and had a ball , i once got a cab all the way from North Wales. had to hitch home though , stopped going in June 81 , mainly because i was moving to London and the Casino had lost some of it's sparkle , haven't been to any venue ever since . this is my first post , so not in the right place maybe but i love reading about all your yesterdays , brings back mine and didn't we have the best time. Gabby
July 25, 201014 yr I went once. To something in about 74 or 75 with a live artist that was ticket only. Our tickets were forged, we'd traveled most of the evening to get there and were left outside at 1 am. Like dopey 17 year olds we paid a bouncer £5 each (most of what we had) to let us in through a side door but he never showed, there were a good few others waiting too. A couple of other kids turned up and said "what you all doing here" so we explained, they had arranged for their mates to open these emergency exit doors as they had no tickets. When they opened we all piled in and scattered. I was quite overawed by the place, had never heard any of the tunes before, bought a record, had a few dances and fell asleep. Woke up and buggered off with everyone else as it closed. Spent most of Sunday traveling back to York. Decided that the whole thing was over rated and never went again.
Me,between 150-200.....
