I have no idea, I don't know what it means at all.

When I first started reading Blues and Soul, A Crossover record was one that made it in the Pop charts, especially in the US, in other words had crossed over from being a Soul Hit (or C&W) to making it in the mainstream.

Nowadays it seems to mean any record slower than Mid Tempo

over used term I reckon, that said I suppose you could say margie Joseph - One more Chance could be the archetypal example of Crossover, now that aint hard to listen to is it?

I think that's one of the all time great records, but I don't think it's crossover, personally...it's way too strong, it's Northern to me

it used to be a certain style/sound and date, as said late 60's early 70's, now it's anything that fits the genre/style from whatever year a dealer decides.
