IMO Heart pales beside Lady In Green, one of my all time favs, roll on that lottery win Dave
November 29, 200519 yr however, someone else has a mint- one of these for sale at the moment as well...is another clara hardy situation developing before our eyes? Dan i must admit my bottom started twitching a bit when i first saw this one go up on ebay, is it time to unload my copy quick i thought, so as i'd just purchased a record from him it gave me a chance to ask him about the copy he was selling. By the way, i did say to him that i wouldn't be bidding on it before i asked him about it, here's what he said:- Ady, The Magnetics was uncovered by a picker in a basement recently, based on scribblings on a few of the sleeves, I'd say it was probably promo stuff intended for the WJLB DJ xxxxx xxxxxxx, maybe he gave away to someone in the neighborhood or a relative, who know? I didn't notice any distortion or noise when I played it, it seemed like I was the first one to give it a spin! best, xxxxx By the way, that's not him sending me kisses at the end, just thought best to blank out names. I see he's cancelled the 2 bids that took it to the $7000 price, as they had no feedback. One of those no feedback names won the Cairo's the other day, wonder if they got their money. pottsy

November 29, 200519 yr please don't Karen...........! Eat all the chocs, but give the record to me??? ................ In a way I would say yes and you would be welcome to it, but on the other hand I would be doing the world a favour if I snapped it, oh dear what to do .......
November 29, 200519 yr Great Northern Soul but most of the"Magnetics" (whichever group) are better than the Bonnie release, Count The Days, When I'm With My Baby, Look On Your Face, I Have A Girl.............
November 29, 200519 yr Great Northern Soul but most of the"Magnetics" (whichever group) are better than the Bonnie release, Count The Days, When I'm With My Baby, Look On Your Face, I Have A Girl............. No way is Lady in Green Northern Soul Chalky
November 29, 200519 yr A truly GREAT record in every possible way. Even the finger snapping has immaculate style.
November 29, 200519 yr In a way I would say yes and you would be welcome to it, but on the other hand I would be doing the world a favour if I snapped it, oh dear what to do ....... Wonderful record, suggest a trip to the chemist
November 29, 200519 yr Wonderful record, suggest a trip to the chemist Honestly I can't for the life of me hear anything good in the song at all
November 29, 200519 yr Honestly I can't for the life of me hear anything good in the song at all Must say the backing leaves a little to be desired at times, lead vocal great though IMO
November 29, 200519 yr Dan i must admit my bottom started twitching a bit when i first saw this one go up on ebay, is it time to unload my copy quicky. pottsy Anyone buy the set sale one on here at a lowley £1800. Evidently, one UK chap has decided it's time to part with his copy! Curently, in the US, perhaps the sight of a several 50 count boxes made up his mind?! https://www.soul-source.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=22066
November 29, 200519 yr Must say the backing leaves a little to be desired at times, lead vocal great though IMO I have been told the B side is better but not heard it so can't comment
November 29, 200519 yr No way is Lady in Green Northern Soul Chalky karen, you're not a lady in a green room, with sensitive and trained medical personnel on hand to help with your sanity problem are you?
November 29, 200519 yr agree with P. Dog that the flip is excellent, by far the better side. Just posted both side in Sounds >>HERE<<
November 29, 200519 yr karen, you're not a lady in a green room, with sensitive and trained medical personnel on hand to help with your sanity problem are you? I am a laaaady, LOL sorry but I don't think anyone could ever convince me this record is any good, and if someone seriously offered me it for free I would say thanks but no thanks, am I in need of help ? only you can decide
November 29, 200519 yr Cheers Simon, now that is what I call a decent record, heaps better than the other side, why don't they play this instead????
November 29, 200519 yr Lady in Green awsome atmospheric tune, has the break, piano hand claps etc - is soulful - believe the hype!
November 29, 200519 yr I am a laaaady, LOL sorry but I don't think anyone could ever convince me this record is any good, and if someone seriously offered me it for free I would say thanks but no thanks, am I in need of help ? only you can decide If "the lady in red" was this rare, and you had a copy, would you also destroy it with the same ruthlessness as Darth Vader wiping out the resistance??? I SINCERELY HOPE SO!!!!!!!!!
November 29, 200519 yr If "the lady in red" was this rare, and you had a copy, would you also destroy it with the same ruthlessness as Darth Vader wiping out the resistance??? I SINCERELY HOPE SO!!!!!!!!! If you mean that horrible racket of a song that was in the chart for about 27 years then yes that gets wiped out as well It doesnt matter to me if its rare or common, if its rubbish, its rubbish all IMO of course
November 29, 200519 yr Love 'Lady in green" but "count the days' is better! Anyone got an MP3 they can put up?
November 29, 200519 yr Love 'Lady in green" but "count the days' is better! Anyone got an MP3 they can put up? Just put it in sounds >>HERE<< mate Edited November 29, 200519 yr by chalky
November 29, 200519 yr Cheers Simon, now that is what I call a decent record, heaps better than the other side, why don't they play this instead???? Agree, like this side much more.. have heard it somewhere recently... but can't remember where or played by who so that's not much help really is it
November 29, 200519 yr As the record (on ebay) was only ever for 'demonstration use only and not for sale' and I suppose therefore never for resale, is some money due to Duke Browner?
November 29, 200519 yr that's an interesting one simon unless duke is selling it! very interesting paperwork by the way, thanks for that dan
November 29, 200519 yr I've always loved "The Lady In Green" myself, and consider it to be far the better side. It just has a mystique about it that "Heart..." lacks. So what if a number of copies turn up. It'll still be a great northern soul record.
November 29, 200519 yr IMO Heart pales beside Lady In Green, one of my all time favs, roll on that lottery win Dave Hi Dave. I gotta go with Pikey. Heart is my fave side. Its soul with balls. Lady is superb too, but Heart is just about perfection.
November 29, 200519 yr Im sure Carl played the flip at the last Wilton? think i pointed it out to someone, much better side
November 29, 200519 yr Hi Dave. I gotta go with Pikey. Heart is my fave side. Its soul with balls. Lady is superb too, but Heart is just about perfection. Hi Mikey, hope you're keeping well mate. Loved lady In Green since 1st time I heard it (late 70s i think) Just something about it, still everyone has their own opinions. That's why disco music seems so popular these days
November 29, 200519 yr Legend has it that Bob 'Detroit' Foster from Llandudno had 3 copies and sold them in the 80s for relative peanuts along with the rest of his collection.
November 29, 200519 yr As the record (on ebay) was only ever for 'demonstration use only and not for sale' and I suppose therefore never for resale, is some money due to Duke Browner? Everytime a Van Gogh is sold to a new owner should some cash go to his descendants? When the next Penny Black is sold should the Post Office get a share ? While having every sympathy for artists, owners etc etc etc who maybe earned a fraction of what they deserved you can't just stop with Duke B can you? Every single demo issued was not for sale, what next demo hoarders to be tracked down & relieved of their promo copies ?

November 29, 200519 yr i think simon was joking, dave DING !!!! Oh well not the 1st or last time I make an arse of meself In my (very weak) defence I have read in the past of people suggesting that some money from records that sell for large amounts of cash should go to the artists concerned - honest that's why I jumped at Simon. Is the hole big enough yet
November 29, 200519 yr Legend has it that Bob 'Detroit' Foster from Llandudno had 3 copies and sold them in the 80s for relative peanuts along with the rest of his collection. The one i have came from him through Sam, Chris Plant and Andy Spencer best £300 i ever spent
November 29, 200519 yr A truely horrible record, if I was given one with a box of quality street I would eat the sweets and snap the record in half seconded, i think it is diabolical and sticks in your head for blinkin ages! Becky
November 29, 200519 yr Magnetics on Bonnie - rare Detroit / northern soul 45 "Lady In Green" b/w "Heart You're Made of Stone" 28$7,000.00 Not specified7h 58m anyone bidding on the above?? Personally i'm content with my re-issue...... What do people think of the 45 (both sides)? cheers, Carl third rate detroit - about as good as Englands batting performance today - and sounds as if it was recorded in the bogs on Shirebrook market place
November 29, 200519 yr outstanding detroit- as good as Englands batting performance against those Aussie swines - and sounds as if it was recorded by gods in a time of glory and splendour Yes Rich it is indeed a tremendous record, i've always loved it since the first day i heard it, glad to see you are in total agreement with me. Brett Edited November 29, 200519 yr by Brett
November 29, 200519 yr Truly awesome 45 both sides: If I came up on the lottery it would be on my shopping liost.

So what if a number of copies turn up. It'll still be a great northern soul record. That saves me writing a reply. But i suppose I could add that yes the diffrence is in the mystique. "Heart.." is a good tune but not unique in the way that "Lady in Green" is ' Lady in Green' could well to be as timeless as "Gypsy Woman".
