August 8, 201212 yr understand Chris King discovered an acetate of an alternative version which was then released as a ltd edition 45 ? how different is it to the original ? I Bought this at Keele when it was first put out on the green Soulseries label when it got a lot of plays. Its a storming version.Recorded i believe at the same time as slow fizz just different vocals which i think work better with the backing track.Think its on the tube worth checking it out
August 8, 201212 yr Entitled "Baby you've got me", also came out legally on a Sequel CD with all their tracks on it - don't know if it's still available though.
August 8, 201212 yr I bought a copy (really cheap: 2/9d I seem to recall) of "Slow Fizz" blind (off a UK record auction list) back in the late 60's -- coz I loved the group's "Gotta Have Your Love" so much. Always hated the lyrics (mindless dance related words), so never took to the track. Sold it cheap to a mate from Sheffield (who was getting into mobile disco DJing) in the early 70's. If the 'alternate' version has decent lyrics, I wouldn't mind hearing it.
August 8, 201212 yr There's a film out titled "The Sapphires" about a female soul group .... they play for the US troops in Vietnam .. ..... but they are from Australia, so the story is not based on the US group (who were male/female anyway) at all ............ A 'soundtrack' CD is to be released in the near future (Nov ?) & it seems it's the ladies who act in the film actually performing th vocals on the tracks it features ..... ... you can listen to the tracks here -- https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Ddigital-music&field-keywords=the+sapphires&x=9&y=21 A clip (trailer) from the film ......... August 8, 201212 yr IT's not really an alternate version of Slow Fizz, it's a completely different song with the same backing track.
August 8, 201212 yr IT's not really an alternate version of Slow Fizz, it's a completely different song with the same backing track. I realise that.... that's the reason I would like to hear the 'other' version, as I hate the lyrics to "Slow Fizz" itself.

August 8, 201212 yr understand Chris King discovered an acetate of an alternative version which was then released as a ltd edition 45 ? how different is it to the original ? There was no original acetate I think Tony Rounce found the master tape, I got a cut of it and played it out first in the 80s, very popular. No doubt Chris King jumped on it and pressed it up later. Ady

August 16, 201212 yr I love this version Was the first official release on CD and if so, which one? I presume the Soul Series 45 is legit? I wouldn't presume that myself

No doubt Chris King jumped on it and pressed it up later. Ady I have an original acetate of a slightly rawer version of "Baby, you've got me" which obviously based on the Prince Harold song. The notes inside are from Lori Burton and P Sawyer who wrote the song. So assume thats the connection between the songs.
