This has probably been done before but I wonder if people wouldn't mind sharing their insight....

I was thinking about Paul Weller's cover of 'If I could only be sure' and how it was a redeeming feature of his album Studio 150 and I began to wonder how many other artists had covered relatively obscure NS records. 'Tainted Love' Soft Cell is perhaps the obvious example of a pop artist bringing a soul record to the attention of the wider record buying public. What other examples can people think of?

We once spent a lovely lunch time with William where we were joking that Billy Idol's cover must have been his oddest but most valuable cover version.

William said 'no no that sold 4 million copies, so it was good, but 5 million copies of the album with Homer Simpson's Born Under A Bad Sign surely beats it'.

quite fitting -Monday Monday by Dee Dee Warwick

By coincidence just came across this on You Tube this morning.

Northern Soul meets Surf.

Getting serious for a moment I think this was recorded after the Invitations version but released before it.

Terrible version that Beach Girls.  It's probably The Toys.

Very good chance Pete. Label, writers etc. etc.

The lead vocal lets it down more than anything. Very weak. But maybe a rushed production job for a throw away B-side.
