Yep. I've long wondered how Bobby Treetop fared after Tuff. Seriously. What happened to him, what was his story? I'd love to know more about these guys and girls....

Bruce Cloud was in Billy Wards Dominoes after Clyde Mcphatter and Jackie Wilson had left the group. He was second tenor with the group . After leaving the group in 1962, Cloud tried to make it on his own and in 1969 released the California Soul album on Capitol. Cloud is an interesting character as much for his music as he is for his tragic personal life story. After failing to realize commercial success with his solo career, Cloud was forced to take a job at a drug store. Things were not going well for Cloud and his family and after nearly divorcing his wife, Cloud killed her and their two year old child before committing suicide.

I've posted all that is known about Little Nicky Soul on here in the past. He was good friends with Sidney Barnes.

Dottie and Millie were Dottie Haynes and Millie Weaver. They also recorded as the Copperettes.

J.T. Parker is John Parker, I have a whole C.D. of his stuff from the Academy session, but nothing as good as the "I Want To Hold on" track. Vince Apollo is Melvin or Marvin Brown (I can't remember off the top of my head) but he's the M.Brown credited on the label.

I read GL's shot three police officers.

 

For some strange reason, even though he can't sing for toffee I quite like Fascinating Girl and despite no one else liking it it rams the dance floors for some reason :lol:

They drifted from one fly-by-night scam to another and were living in an Inkster motel when Inkster police arrived July 9, 1987, to serve Alberta Easter, and her sons with a warrant for a $286 bad check.
Easter, 69, protested, insisting the warrant was improper. Officers Clay Hoover, 24, and Daniel Dubiel, 36, called their supervisor, Sgt. Ira Parker. He drove to the Bungalow Motel on Michigan Avenue. Seconds after Parker, 41, entered the motel room, gunfire began. The cops didn't have a chance. Twenty-nine slugs were pumped into the three officers, including rounds from their own weapons.
Then Easter and sons George, 45, Roy, 47, and William Lemons, 43, fired at random out the motel door at Michigan Avenue. A 10 hour standoff ended when the family surrendered. All were convicted of first-degree murder and are serving life terms.

Earl Connelly was likely to be Louisiana Blues singer, Earl King.  Some of his early '50s King records list him as "Earl Connelly King".

i know Sirshambling, but i want to arrange mostly picture sets and bio infos ( born! - died!) 

Look around the net for Jimmy Gresham, he was released from prison Feb 2012 after serving 20+ years of a 30 year stretch

 

For starters there stuff here. The "Free Jimmy Gresham" web site is no longer going as he's now free.

 

The MP3 download of the interview is still working though

 

 

Also a lot of facts to be gleaned from here plus there are other threads if you do site search for Jimmy Gresham

Billy Hambric was a New York artist who was recorded by Bobby Robinson's Fury Records, in addition to Don Juan Mancha on Drum records, when the latter was working in New York, looking for a record deal.

 

Ronnie Forte was a stage name for Ronnie McCain, who recorded for Ben Smith's Triode Records.  McCain (Forte) was one of Smith's main artists, and a partner of his in Benron Music.  They worked out of New York in the mid 1960s.
