Always quite liked this one.

Billy Kennedy - If I Was A Kid (Silver)

Where was it played?

Is it ever played now - and if not, what would happen if it was?

Presume the Betty Wright version was a cover - seeing as B. Kennedy was one of the song writers?

Cheers

Richard

It has had plays bit of an oldie, Cleethorpes I think? I gave it a few spins again a few years ago.

Love both versions, and was a big Cleethorpes anthem one of the first tunes I got, also booted on ERA memory seves me right

Funnily enough it has been played at the last 3 places I've been to this last Month.

Yes was deffo a spin at Cleethorpes for me and still have it in my box, i think Poke put me on to it

VIA "Soul Bowl" Cracking tune and worth the revival it appears to be getting,

Hi Richard, it also had a brief spell in the spotlight at the 70s Nottingham Palais all-dayers. It's hard to generalise from local knowledge but I seem to recall as it was getting to be an established expected play within that venue there was a glut of them came into local shops, so much so that for many years I thought mine must have been a boot, on the assumption that any played out sound that appeared in the shops was a boot! (I was very young!). I think its sudden availability led to it being dropped from spots. Very much a theme of the mid 70s, big tune breaks, booted, dropped. Although I was wrong about the boot presumption on this occasion.

Think I also have it on a tape from St Ives around 76 / 77, but my date recollection is quite poor. Will have to have a look at the tape.

John Manship introduced it to me.....superb tune....

Years ago can't remember where my copy went to,same person who bought The professional on groove city & Ree Flores all have my names scribbed in runout...sorry......
