As a lot of members will proberbly remember a thread  I started 2/3 years ago called Who Discovered What, which turned out to be a long running and enjoyable thread about which djs or patrons of all nighters discovered which tunes. Which brings me to my first vist to wigan around76/77 thinking

 back to some of the tunes I heard on that first visit and not having a clue which jocks played them and were they the first to play them ?or where they spun somewhere else first by a different dj at another allnighter first,  the tunes what came to mind that night are

    Paula Durante if he were mine

     So who played them at wigan and were they the first to spin em  ?

 Thinking this could be an interesting , informative and maybe an argumentative thread, maybe there's tunes who ss members would like to know who spun first

i played lost summer love at chesterfield last saturday and the floor was RAMMED!

Thinking back, I had Lost Summer Love before it was played at Wigan, I ordered a 4 track emisidsc off JM and when it came, Down In The Dumps was missing and Lost Summer Love was on there, nobody had heard it round our way and I had to ring him and ask him what it was all about!

I was gonna mention that! Definately before it was played at Wigan... was that the same emi that came with Chris Cerf - Sweet Music on it, cos that was before Wigan plays as well if I remember correctly...

No that was something else I ordered and he sent me someone elses record - Chris Cerf aka len Barry b/w The Fabulettes aka Barbara Mills, we had no idea about either of them and again, Wigan didn't get them for a few weeks.  I sent that back I think...

Andre Brasseur may well have been played a as new releases in the 60's.

Samantha Jones definitely pre Wigan but revived at Wigan with the occasional play from Richard, Russ, Alan, mainly 1977.

That is very true.  I remember buying a John Andrews Parlophone demo off him for £20, sold it for £25, ended up in Spain...this was only in the mid 90's as well.  Also had bros Grimm demo off him when it was barely known, Linda lewis, loads - top British collector.

Mick is Billy Whizz's younger brother. I heard him DJ recently in Norwich and he played some fantastic records The Mar J's Got To Find A Way being one of them.

yes i had it on the blue stars label..but when i bought it i'm sure the Torch has already closed..i can remember it as being a biggie between Torch and Casino..and it often appears in the clubs ads of that period..if it was played at the Torch surely mustve been at the end?..btw the full list of ootp pressings (not all pressed) appeared in April '74..inc Lynne Randell...

hmm..i always thought the stars design came first..but can remember both designs being for sale at the same time (if that makes sense)..i also remember the white ootp's being 4 for £1 (pre packed) on sale at the Queens hall allnighter in Apr '74..maybe the presser got a bit windy and tried to get rid quick..

 the International soul club..ISC had a massive list of titles but many never surfaced..i'd like to know which are the rarest?..'chained & bound' seems scarce..

That stars design OOTP has been resurrected lately - loads on ebay, mainly Paul Anka "When We Get There" bloody awful orangey colour....

Joey Hetherington was brought into uk by Siz after a trip to Belguim. We played it for a couple of months at greatstone mid 70's then sold on to Richard who covered it up a Cindy Scott. Think Kev Roberts found a few and unmasked it. Great picture cover.

No they didn't Kev, the white OOTP's came after, look at the number sequence for goodness sake, and the fact that some of the last ones are rarely seen, the shooting star label was first, the clue is that the first one is number 001.

An aside from this i found about 300 of the buggers along with about 100 Verve Baby I love You and a load of Sussex 45s in a Brick Lane junkshop.....work that one out!! great thread btw.Can it be merged with the original thread

yes apparently so..and thats the way i remember it..stars first..i think my first buy was 'skiing in the snow' invitations bluish green stars..sound quality not brilliant..followed shortly after by 'Stranger in my arms' i think around mid 73 ish maybe bit later..and the white ones were being sold at the end of the queens hall niter by the bucket load..mostly the less in demmand titles..bill black , persionettes etc..btw have never seen detroit land apples, jean Carter, Milton wright etc on this label...

i think there was a glut of the white ootp's..and some surfaced years later in quantity..the verve ambers was always very common, many thru bostocks and bradford market..

Also you've got the label name Out Of The Past on the coloured label ones, then the white label ones (all on styrene by the way) just have the initials OOTP, where did that come from if there hadn't been a fully fledged Out Of The Past brand name first - and why start the label at number 20 or 30  something instead of 001?

yep..and speeded up..which ive always preferred..changing the subject slightly..when visited LA many years ago..i found lots of weird 45's with the same or similar logos found on many of the bootlegs of the day..sandbag, pussycat etc...
