Hi all i have recieved a copy of this record its the second issue with the instrumental as the b-side. I have posted this question elswhere and the verdict was boot but have promised the supplier i would ask the same question here as he is not convinced my suspicions are correct and if i am honest i'm not totally sure myself. First of it's cat number is P 4 A ( Same as the original) where the usuall re-issue has PS 4 A it has a scratched matrix not stamped looks like a stuck on paper lable and is missing the date under the OTIS SMITH wording, is it possible this is a rarer version as it turn's up on ebay at around 5 : 1 ratio . Was it ever booted !!

As said elsewhere.....It was booted on vinyl and reissued on styrene as far as I am aware both with the instrumental on the flip.  The original as said has machine stamped matrix, is on vinyl and has the flip "Alley Full Of Trash And Bottles".

It's a boot / reissue whatever, Proper one / Original as Chalky says has Alley Full Of Trash And Bottles on the flip

No.... i dont have a problem with it being a legit re-issue we cant all afford to pay hundreds of pounds, i do have a problem if im passing it on and it's a boot of the re-issue.

You have what appears to be the reissue if it is styrene with stuck on label. There is no original release with the instrumental flip.

Never ever ever ever said it was an original i said  was IT a legit re-issue and asked was the legit re-issue booted thats all i have asked and i only posted here at the request of the supplier as stated several times . I was perfectly happy with the responses on facebook

I looked at the refosoul listing, I only see one youtube clip? either way, I believe that there were two versions. Which one has the organ, the original or later version? The original version came out in 1969. If the second version came out just a few years later, was it commissioned for the northern soul scene? That seems really early in the history of northern soul (which I know little about), who would have commissioned it from Perception?

 Hi All....Like many people my first copy of "let her go!" was the 2nd issue PERCEPTION with the instrument B side, the record is a different take from the original issue, I have always assumed the 2nd copy to have been legit similar to the Jerry Williams "if I asked you" CALLA reissue, however they may of come from the same source as the James Bounty "prove yourself a lady" maybe semi legit?

Both copy's the 1st & 2nd are hard to value, as the 2nd copy has the instr on the B side, I suppose the !st copy is the to have, however you may be like myself and have both copies in your collection,

The second issue was around in 1973 if I remember correctly...that was the one with the instr. on the B-side

The boot is a boot of the re-issue and according to JM came out in 1973 so would tie in with the re-issue of Jerry Williams at the same time.

The original was 1970 wasn't it, Z4KM would indicate it was according to the RCA pressing plant info on Flynny's site.

 

The re-issue 1973 so I would imagine whoever was behind Jerry Williams on Calla getting reissued was maybe behind this?   Is the boot a boot of the re-issue?

Some of the later Perception releases had the mastering date scratched in , so maybe someone who has the version with the instr., could supply details of what's in the runout to compare?

Stick on label (if you can get your nail under the label) is styrene.  If it is, which it sounds like then you have the 1973 reissue.

It is the legit reissue but it's worth nothing like the original, probably about the same as the boot, maybe bit more.

Cheers chalky i know its not worth as much ...by the way there is an original on ebay right now .....so why has it got a different cat number then i wonder ?

The first pressed at RCA pressing plant, they give it a matrix number using there own numbering system. The second pressed elsewhere.
