The strings come on a bit like Gloria Scott 'Lovemaking' - would have been a good cover

  • It's nice enough, I could imagine Lisa Stansfield singing it.

  • Sounds like Fleetwood Mac to me, can't hear much soul content just pleasant-ish radio-friendly MOR sounds

Agreed ; very Ken Bruce.

When it gets to the 70s sound the line gets pretty thin between MOR and soul

I'm a bit in the dark here - and she might be a SS fave ... so I'll get shot ... nice enough tune for me - dreadful vocals

Now that is a tune - anyone got one for sale? I'm dancin' now ...

I don't think it's particularly soulful either, maybe the arrangement shakes hands with a 7Ts sort of sound, but doesn't retain much of it's DNA, so all in all, I wouldn't turn it off it came on the radio, think that's the best I can say.

Mrs C likes her a lot, Kev, I'll bet Heather does to? sounding vocally like Karen Carpenter . Which all means that Mrs C will have it for HER car cd player

Hmmmm…I struggle with Rumer (crap stage name as well) - she seemed to hop from genre to genre until one hit paydirt.

I don't think she's particularly 'authentic'… if her first 'indie' band had sold any records she'd be doing that instead….not for me I'm afraid.
