Here's a list of 50 of the scenes most popular records taken from Dave McCadden's " Soul time " fanzine in Jan 1977 .Would be interested in folks views on the sides listed , some have remained classic plays , others have fallen by the wayside .An interesting list anyway , I think .Best Wishes ,Eddie

How do you spot a Nancy Wilson counterfeit? I've always been suspicious about my copy... :wicked:

Nancy Wilson was never counterfeited. It got a legit UK Capitol reissue, that's all.

Just read the list. Great times back then, although some say it was the beginning of the end. There were a fair few new releases also played like Barbara Pennington and DC Larue.

In reality it was the starting point of a mass change in direction, not just the Mecca but all clubs had to include new styles.

Nearly 30 years on, I wonder how many times since then I have heard each record. The mind boggles.

Van Dykes Save my love for a rainy day........still awesome...whatcha think? :D

Top tune! Used to be big at the same time as the Tomagoes and Morris Chestnut. I'm sure I heard all three back to back one night at Wigan. I was in orbit!

Also nterestig how many of the 77 top 50 had been around for at least a couple of years on the scene, e.g. The Jewels which was massive way before 77, 74/5 I think if my ageing memory is correct!
