Hi Guys

Can anyone clear this one up for me once and for all please.The Performers -I Cant Stop You - Mirwood. Is the Black label copy an original and ok to play out.Was it done at the same time as the blue label at a different plant or is the Black a much later reissue.

Well I remember this 'black label' version BUT it ain't what you're on about ....

Yes, the black label is original.  I saw many of those when the record was out.  It was pressed both on black, and blue.  The blue was at Monarch, and one other plant.  The black was at a 3rd plant.

If you really want to make sure youre playing an original you ought to know theres a black boot or repress , i know cos ive got one, not sure about the blue tho.

Whats the Marks in the boots deadwax Marty and ar there any differences on the label. He is mine below

 

 

I'm afraid that one doesn't look quite right to me - it also looks like it has had one of those coloured stickers you used to get on records of dubious origin that Selectadisc sold in the 70's.

Obviously more than happy to be proved wrong....

I Would love to know either way does anyone know of any marks or any info to put it to bed please.My copy looks to me the same as the black one on you tube that Manship sold a while back.There is no mention of any boot in the Manships fifth edition guide either.

Yes, the name R. McGlothin is spelled out in full.  Engraved into the trailer lower left is:  5535   .   Straight down and slightly right is:  68 - 3155.  L.A. Stomp has opposite positions:  68 - 3156  on lower left, and 5535 on lower right.  No stamps or any other engravings.

OK Guys thats great.Thanks Rob,and Louise.Looks like mine with the shortened R Mac is a boot or reissue then.Interesting as half the images on google are the same and even the white Demo scans on google are Ones with the shortened title.

Question allready answered me finks ,Mirwood label very trickie one to collect, & yes i come from nottm, ( still there) so mine proberly come from selly as it was affectionally known, as in they would sell you any bloody fing !

 

Matrix on I can't stop you side reads  68-3155 Re    5535   R1526. All scratched on the left hand side.

Matrix on L.A. Stomp side reads     68-3156   5535. Scratched on the right hand side at the 2 o-clock position.

I bought this about ten years ago and have always believed it to be an original as the JM guide at the time did not list the record as being booted. I would be interested to hear of other variations.

Appologies for resurecting this thread.I have recently seen copies for sale exactly the same as mine pictured in my previous post.

Mine is the black label design with the shortened R Mac in the credits.This is the exact copy of the design on the white Demo.There are two black label designs as we know but there is no mention in Manships guide that either one is a boot.So does anyone know for sure if one is a boot,i have kept mine out of the playbox but as i say keep coming accross them getting sold as original black labels 

matrix numbers on mine same as ones on millos . 

Any help on this one guys

The black issue i have is the one at the side of the Demo and as you can see the design is the same with shortened R Mac in writers credits and the extra supervision sonny knight on bottom line

The other black design mirrors the blue issue copy shown

So are both blacks legit can anyone confirm either way please.

Regarding this Black issue please read all thread.I did contact JM a while back who stated that both black label designs were originals.Seen ones like mine with shortened R Mac credits selling as originals.Still getting different opinions from collectors.So any further input or opinions would be welcome thanks.

I've bought bunches with the short credit name of both the promo and black issues as NOS. I never knew the story with the full name credit. Seeing this now makes me understand that the second round of release on both black and blue labels "corrected" to credit the second composer's name in full rightfully so. All legit.
