I just noticed this on the Discogs page for the Don Gardner bootleg of Cheatin Kind, never seen it before.

"This release has been blocked from sale in the marketplace. It is not permitted to sell this item on Discogs."

I guess Discogs are weeding out anything that might be considered a bootleg - wonder if this is across the board, or just where the copyright owners enter a complaint?

PS my Discogs store is at https://www.discogs.com/seller/Rockerq/profile

They are probably weeding out the unofficial releases? Not noticed anything though.

Hope this doesn't lead to the unofficial ones getting put in with the official?

I have had a few  removed - all were 12" releases. I think they will start to appear again as official reissues

had this with the REDDINGS The Awakening LP  it's an official uk release so don't know what the problem with that is

Yes, there has been an industry crackdown, a sign that discogs has now entered the mainstream? Unofficial releases/boots will be getting blocked from the marketplace, you will still see them listed though (since the site was always intended as a discography tool first & the marketplace was an afterthought), over the next while, looks like it has started, many of the "rock boots", TMOQ etc have been blocked in the last week or so.

I've had a dozen removed, those 1960's freakbeat lookalikes - but my shop isn't even open so not that bothered

Are the unofficial releases just removed from the Marketplace or from the discographies as well?

Just the market place from what I've looked at.

I suspect someone has told them that they are complicit in encouraging the sale of illegal copies or something like that, hence the clampdown.
