I'm not a drinker or a smoker.... actually I don't have any vices, unless being a public nusceince counts!

I'm with Ken (and even Chalky) about getting things back to the good old days. Warm-up and have a tipple at a seperate location, then at 12 or even 1, toddle off to the nighter to DANCE. At about 7.50 put on a dry pair of knickers and a warm outfit suitable for travelling in..... and then head back to someones house that lives locally, and carry on having a good time

Any night out wether it a night or nighter i do like my beer as long as you dont get stupid on it and dont effect no one else then i personally see nothing wrong with it.

Thing is though you know that there will always be some who just get so rat arsed they cant stand up never mind dance.

Everyone has different ways of getting right into it and i dont mind if they drink,smoke,take drugs or just stay free of all the previous as long as they respect other people and behave.

I`m sure there would be a nighter somewhere with booz,but if there was one without i would rather be there,just think a dry nighter might attract the younger punter,as a bonus,after all i got into nighters to get away from the booz,and the trouble it causes,if it wasnt for nighters i`d probberly be dead now,on drink.

I just love the "Special Qualities" a Nighter has. The Music - The Atmosphere - Friendship - A scene like no other. Gives me a Buzz WITHOUT anything else.

However;

My feet definitely tap, but they don't turn on, they just don't steer correctly.

My dancing is definitely restricted to protect others on the floor.

Only ever danced when I've had a few, "NOT A PRETTY SIGHT"

Others may sustain Black eyes and thus look like "Goths" due to my flailing out of sync limbs.

I've always wished I could dance, I just love the Music so much.

I like a good auld drink in the pub before (Wilton's always great crack) and when it's time to stop and get into the serious business (soul music that is ) a nice bottle of Champagne amongst mates opended at about 3-4 oclock always works wonders

Saturday afternoons afterwards and on into Saturday night at someones house is sometimes better than the niter - especially if your with Dick !

Never used to have Alcohol at niters only squash n used to dance all night...

Me personally I can dance all nite long on squash or endless Pernoid n black's. Just the squash n Alcohol don't mix for me if you get my drift..... One or the other for dancing..

Nowadays some tend to socialise more, listening rather than dancing (must be an age thing ) wouldn't know bout that yet So drinking would obviously be a big part of the nite to them.... whether your a dancer or not means you can have different expectations from the nite musically as well I think...
