Soul Sale with Reductions

Recommended Posts

Some recent sales posts pulled together with healthy reductions where I can, all cracking tunes here, some with equally good flips, happy to provide sound files if not already included.  Happy to provide scans and sound files for any 45.

Jimmy Wallace – I’ll be back – Alpha 006 M- £725 now £675 SOLD
This copy has a M- surface and playback, however it is pressed off-centre, but this is remedied by a purpose fit spindle adaptor, resulting in a perfect play as per the sound file. The labels would grade Ex for just a couple of handling smudges on the cool purple label.

John E. Paul – I wanna know – Decca 12685 Ex £100 now £80
(Fantastic trumpet intro, deep sax bursts set this insatiable “island like” dancer alight, legitimate 2nd Issue, the 1st nearly impossible to find)

Rare Pleasure – Let me down easy – DJM 10738 Ex £65 no £55
(Smooth mid 70s dancer)

Volumes - That same old feeling / The trouble I’ve seen - Impact 1017 Vg+/Ex £150 now £125 SOLD
Red stock copy, much harder to find than the demo, both sides suffer from some scuffs that do leave audible pops in parts. “Trouble” plays much better than it looks. Labels have some wear.

Dee Irwin - I only get this feeling - Imperial 66295 Ex+ £75 now £60 SOLD

Larry Saunders – On the real side – London 10469 Ex+ £100 now £80
(Vocally brilliant, Larry’s range clearly on view here)

Chubby Checker – You just don’t know – London 10557 M- £30 now £25
(Been a filler for me all those years waiting for the US Parkway to come along, Chubby does proper Northern)

Cheers - Two loves / Never again - Nation 7859 Ex £95 now £75
(Sticker removed, left a small tear and residue, plus inner rim wear on label. 2 great Chicago sides play M-)

Fantastic Four - Can’t stop looking for my baby - Ric-Tic 123 Ex £150 SOLD
(“A 2 dollar room that’s never seen a broom” – the best opening lines ever)

Four Below Zero - My baby’s got E.S.P. - Roulette 7186 DJ M- £100 now £85 SOLD

Jacki Ross - Hard times - Sar 129 Promo Ex £250 now £200 SOLD
(Very hard R&B, her first release at 16 on Sam Cooke’s own label, what a voice)

Jerry Tiffe - Hey watcha doin’ - Scepter 12271 Promo M- £50 now £40 SOLD
(This is a great tune, give it a whirl on you tube or ask for sound file)

Fellows - She’s always there / Let’s make it last - Solid Hit 110 Ex+ £275
(Superb Detroit double sider, one upbeat soul, the other - gritty Volumes on Karen-esque)

Hoagy Lands – Next in line - Stateside 2030 Demo Ex+ £650 now £600
(Not sure many UK enthusiasts will have this rarity in their collection, a huge play throughout the scene’s history, a centre has been very nicely re-fixed (not by me I might add))

Trini Lopez – Sinner not a saint – Stateside 6.014 Ex+ £50 now £40 SOLD
(Pacey R&B dancer, must be ripe for the continental floors, with Ex Pic sleeve, seen at 75 on US)

Barbara Lynn - I’m a good woman - Tribe 8316 Promo M- £200 now £175
(Femme R&B on a lovely orange promo)

Wilson Pickett - Let me be your boy - Verve 10378 DJ Ex £75 now £60 SOLD
(Classic)
