Discusion about this in the pub with a couple of mates...Which was the version played out back in the Day...Was it Mood Mosaic...It must have been a big spin for it to get the Casino Classics Ron Grainer treatment..

Which version is best

Mood Mosaic by a mile. It was the ‘ender’ at Plas Coch Saturday night discos in the late ‘70’s. The Anglesey Soul Crew would fill the floor clamouring for more whilst the Holyhead boozers were staggering off to make sure they had a seat on the free coach. I honestly can’t remember hearing it played out at a major venue back in the day...can’t remember the last time I played the Casino Classic LP’s either - probably not this century, but they’re there just in case I need to. Great tune by the way.

always had it down as a very well known uk high street disco type of record, quite a few 60s/70s mainstream radio djs used it as a theme

then round about about 1977/78 for some reason it got revived by the 'oldies' crowd/scene that was going on back then and seemed that those who it was all new to lapped it up and gave it a new burst of life

also well known in mainland Europe as well, German tv show theme

where does this fit in to the story?

 

 

 

Was used as theme tune for German TV show "beat club" from 1968 on. Later als for another show but forgot its title.

Mood-Mosaic version was played in many UK soul clubs in 1966/67 ... the Wheel being one of those.

The track was arranged & produced by the 'Teenage Opera' guy -- Mark Wirtz (that song more commonly known as "Grocer Jack, Grocer Jack" by Keith West).

Then it was back to Otis R & his version of "Shake".

The show seemed to change it's theme music most weeks, so no doubt Mood-Mosaic was used one / some weeks around then. Incidentely, Mark Wirtz's guy Keith West performed his song on the show in 1967 (ahead of cutting "Grocer Jack", he'd been lead singer with UK beat group THE IN CROWD).

They used mood mosaic as theme from 68 on. Even re-released it on 45 due to the popularity of Beat Club.

Mood-Mosaic version is the original & obviously, is far far superior

Mood-Mosaic was used by Dave Lee Travis as his theme tune on pirate Radio Caroline.

Ron Grainer Oz Theme Toon supremos  take , was at the behest of Barry,Wigans Ovation prod, Kingston.  .When rights for "Touch" and "Joe 90"could not be obtained the re ,recording route was given to Ronnie of Prisoner Tv Toon fame ( A technique pioneered by Iconic Soul legend Ian levine)

Awesome tunes. Great dance music. Up-tempo. Era of the instrumental. Banging tunes 50 years ago...Zola, The Kid, Sea Cruise, The Trip etc. I’ve heard that some of the punters back then were off their trees... Fife Piper was rare in the beginning but sounds tame now;  remember the sounds were pioneers of a sort.
