Odd Fellows Soul Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Praise the lord, hopefully the first Motown compilation (since Chris Kings 2 x Northern Motown) that is wholly aimed at the dancefloor and not the armchair. Some of the 7s boxset choices were to be listened to not danced to and hopefully this compilation will put things right. Licencing may have held back some wanted choices on the 7s sets but now there is even more from the vaults to come by the sounds of it. KTF 1
Davey S Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Does anyone know the deal with royalties and Universal Music/Motown ? Dave.
Davey S Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Without divulging to much I take it people are looked after Neil ?
Neil Rushton Posted March 2 Author Posted March 2 A label first of all has to satisfy various criteria with Universal Music for them to agree to deal with it. If the criterias are met a label can apply to licence tracks. We met the criteria. This has taken months and months of hard work. This album has been nearly a year in the making. In general - if the tracks are available to licence to 3rd parties like us we may be offered a non exclusive licence. The contract will set a royalty to be paid per sale. Usually there will requirement be an advance payment against royalties generated by sales. Payment for use of the songs/compositions is separate. All The Best, Neil 1
