    I suspect it was not malicious but an accident by a contractor working up there , the video footage shows nothing to suggest it was deliberate.

You are possibly right and hopefully so, obviously all will come to light with the CCTV footage.

Shocking. Problem is now the birds will probably never return to that nesting site.

It would be nice to believe that's true! The nest was big enough to see - maybe he was walking around on the rooftop with his eyes closed?🤔
