Hi everyone,

I was playing 'Momma's Gone/Easier To Say Than To Do' House of Fox recently and thought I'd try and find some information about the artist. But to no avail. I can't seem to find any biographical information about him or find (to date) anyone who might have information about him. So I thought I'd throw it out here and see if any of you knowledeable people have any information to share.

Apologies, can't add anything informative, but the flip has been a weekly play for many years, great record.

Thought Little Johnny Blair was a pseudonym for the artist Charles Hodges who recorded for Calla amongst others and cut the b side under his own name.

Thanks everyone it was the flip I'm interested in. I wasn't aware that he was Charles Hodges and that it had come out on Calla. Anyone know which came first and why the name change?

i'm not saying it's wrong, but i find it hard to believe Charles Hodges & Little Johnny Blair are the same person.

Possibly, because i don't know the full story, or where that 'fact' came from. If someone could enlighten me, i'd be grateful.

yup, agree. they are the same singer, or at least the same audio across the two you tube clips.

Even with the Lelan Rogers connection there seems something odd (to me at least) about what seems to be a New York artist on Calla arriving at House of the Fox, with Memphis writers on both sides. But i guess Calla licenced off the B-side, and hey ho...no conspiracy theory here.

Yes I saw that Mike, couldn't find anything else to confirm though so I'll take it that they are the same person. 👍

Charles wrote quite a few songs & is still registered with BMI.

On some of these songs he's listed as Charles Jacob Hodges, on others just as plain Charles Hodges. He obviously used his other name in the past as the 45 label for the song "You Were Using Me" has him listed as Jacob Hodges. He has 39 songs listed with BMI, a couple written in conjunction with Johnny Northern.

Johnny was in the music biz for years as a singer, writer, producer & he collaborated with the likes of J R Bailey, Clyde Otis, Freddie Briggs, Rudy Clark, Horace Ott & more.

So Charles had lots of contacts in the music biz. A few that are still around know a bit about him.
