Ace Records presents the official audio for 'I'm Moving On' by Kim Weston To celebrate the 46th anniversary of the 6TS Rhythm & Soul Club at the 100 Club All-Nighter on Saturday 27th September, Kent Records are issuing the customary promotional 45. Kim Weston’s ‘I’m Moving On’ was cut for her then husband, producer Mickey Stevenson, aided by the songwriter Willie Hutch. It was recorded at the same time as ‘You’re Just The Kind Of Guy’ which was released on MGM in 1967. This equally fine track was left in the vaults and gets its first release on our celebratory single. The music is as good as the names Weston, Stevenson and Hutch would suggest at this great moment in soul music history.

  • Not so sure about the kim weston tune, its like the producers tried to make her and the song sound white, could quite easily be the mamas and papas,i can see why it was shelved.

Christ on a bike, the kim Weston is good, best anniversary side I've heard for a few years, hoping to hear it at the played gathering next week.

  • I've loved Johnny Copeland's blues style recordings for many years. This is up there with his best of them. He skipped from label to label thru the 60's, 70's & 80's -- why no record company tried

Johnny Copeland had four singles released on US Kent Records in 1970-1972. He also recorded three other songs 'No Puppy Love', 'I Was Born To Love You' and this superb mid-tempo ballad 'Oh How I Miss You'. It did get a UK Kent release in 1987 but has missed out on a digital release until now.

This chugging southern soul sound could well get played to modern and crossover dancefloors, such is its quality.

Yeah, it’s a bit Jefferson airplane for me.

I've loved Johnny Copeland's blues style recordings for many years. This is up there with his best of them. He skipped from label to label thru the 60's, 70's & 80's -- why no record company tried to hang onto him I don't know (never heard stories about him being a difficult character to deal with). Maybe being based down in Texas didn't help his recording career.

It's a crying shame that he was allowed to go for 5 years in the 70's without a record contract. He seemed to be rescued from oblivion in the 80's by labels that specialised in old style blues singers (UK & Euro based ones included).

He didn't seem to get a single mention in Billboard mag in the 1970's after a note about his 1970 Kent 45 release ("Soul Power" -- a licensed in track by Kent).
