Guest
Just to say well done for a great night. Journey up there, fairly painless. Found it first time, thanks to Ash's directions, that were given beautifully by Richard, you made a brilliant navigator . The venue was lovely, arrived about 8.15 & it had already started to fill up.Greeted by Jason, who was really appreciative of me travelling up, makes the 2 hour journey worthwhile Thanks for the cd (which I've not listened to yet) & the mag which I have just had a leisurely read of in bed, as I have given up on the hope of getting some sleep. Spent the majority of the night in the main room, though spent the odd occasion in the other room. From what I saw music good in both, spent most of the night dancing. Roddy had them in party mood in the little room. Di, it was lovely to meet you, you are a brave woman inviting Melv & Roddy back to yours, hope they left you your furniture Steve from York, lovely meeting you, you had be in stitches, looking forward to meeting again at Brid. Karen, nice meeting you too, we got interupted, meant to continue the conversation, but never got round to it. Mel, thanks for sharing all your funny tales with me, the sword fighting, absolutely class Ash, really hope you get the footie result you need to keep your team up. The journey home was a bit of a nightmare home, with thick fog, trouble with petrol caps & me with a thick head, but thanks for the company Richard. I still giggling about your description of our Antony, absolute class Got in at 5 this morning & had Lauren jumping on my head at 8, oh the joys of motherhood Only took 3 piccies, too busy dancing, but will put them in the gallery. If you guys are having another one, will be back Kx Link to comment
Guest Michael Higgins
T'was indeed a fabulous night. Great venue, great people. Even managed to shake off a hangover lingering from the Friday night (a Mr Wolf Blass to blame). Was starting to flag at one point, but Mark Bicknell's spot shook away any remaining cobwebs. Hardly was able to say hello to anyone. Can I suggest big-lettering name badges for the next one? Link to comment
Mark Bicknell
That's two gigs on the bounce for me got in at 3am Saturday early hours from Sheffield and hit the sack in the B&B in Sunderland around 4am Sunday early hours so was pretty whacked to start with, thanks to the NESU Guys for inviting me up to play a few tunes, i was not my best by far but people seemed to enjoy the tunes i played. Regards - Mark Bicknell. Link to comment
Jason S
On behalf of myself and the rest of us unruly lot at the NESU just want to thank everyone who supported last night's do. The effort put in by a lot of you to come out was hugely appreciated and never taken for granted and it was for you lot that we put the night on - hopefully the music and the presentation reflected that ethos. I thought there was generally a really relaxed atmosphere and from what I heard of all the DJ spots (in between dashing between rooms and the door and doing a few running repairs) there were a lot of cracking tunes played over the course of the night - right across the board throughout both rooms from all DJs who put in the effort did us proud Link to comment
Wally Francis
It was a first time visit for me ,and i thoroughly enjoyed myself. Some great tunes played from all the dj's,but Don Thompsons 70s spot in the small room was fantastic.Well done lad's. Link to comment

Guest jeffthevest
Well done NESU had a belting night, this venue is just the biz ! I love it Some brill tunes throughout the night, although the 100 mph's mid way relegated me to the chair for a while, causing my legs to cabbage so I had to just sit and sing a long to Marks fab spot (do portable calipers exist?) Lovely to speak with you Kirsty, will see you again at Piercebridge no doubt. Thanks for a great night all involved, see you's all very soon Karen n Jeff xx Link to comment

Guest espo
Great venue this and good to see all the hard work that goes into promoting a night paying off. Everyone seemed to be there to enjoy themselves which is half the battle. Some top tunes played but Dons 70s spot in the small room was unbeatable---absolute quality from start to finish ( he,s even using the mike ---wont be long before he,s gobshiting along with the rest of us)10/10 fella. It was my fault, I buggered off to the bar or other room & then couldnt see in the dark where Karen had gone back to sit. I liked your joke about the tablets by the way, I told Bri it & he didnt get it for 10 mins Michael, I did try looking for you, but obviously not hard enough (will blame the dark room again ) Your idea about badges is a good one Link to comment

Guest James Trouble
Total respect to the work that Jason put into this event. The care and attention to detail is second to none. The magazine he puts together that is given away along with a free CD deserves special mention. Amazing work. The hand painted banner he did himself, WOW! Even down to the DJ times that were put on each of the tables. Hand folding every flyer himself that are perhaps the most imaginative and innovative use of A4 photo copied flyers ever produced on the scene? Care and love put into every detail. If I could get him to move back to London and be a part of the Soul Revolution promotion team I would. The star of the night was Jason IMO, and I've come away feeling that I didn't do my old friend's efforts jusctice behind the decks, 8 bottle of Bulmers on an empty stomach probably didn't help my drunken excuse for DJing You're all lucky to have Jason up there! Support this event because it deserves it more than most Link to comment
Guest Michael Higgins
Great spot Mark. I know you implied not to bother with the additions, but I think you played Skip Jackson "I'm onto you girl" after the Continental Showstoppers and before Elbow Poker. Today I am mostly rewatching The Rain Man while memorising the letters page of the Daily Telegraph. Jason S
You did fine James, sounded good to me. Gotta say though that the others put in as much effort as I did, maybe in different ways but vital ways - Ash, Steve and John must've bought rights to a 40 mile strip of the A1 the amount of times they did that trek to promote Saturday - think we were all pretty knackered but happy 5am on Sunday morning. ...and Roddy & co...hope you got to the Peterlee after-party ok Link to comment

Guest Ash
I'd just like to say a massive thanks from all of us at NESU to all who supported our night. It was great to see every corner of the North-East out in force, and then so many people travelling from further afield (including Spain ... still can't get over that). A big thanks to every one of the guest DJ's who all played a blinder - Mark Bicknell (Solar Radio), James Trouble (Soul Revolution), Roddy Brass (the best thing from Scotland since Frank MacAvenie), Don Thompson (a North-East favourite), Deka (The Barrels, Berwick-Upon-Tweed) & Dave Tansley (Urban Soul Promotions/ Centurian, Newcastle). I'm still struggling to get over a weekend of personal high points ..... You should have heard by now our Carlos did it again - Cheers Kirsty - Come On You Irons! Must mention our team who worked their socks off - Jason, Steve, The Mighty John Quinn, Gillian, Kim & Ann, and Ken, our sound guy. Massive thanks everyone! God, it's like the Oscars ain't it! Guest Ash
Message on behalf of Steve Davidson: A big thank you to everyone who made the trip to Sunderland on Saturday. All of us at NESU really appreciated your support and we hope that you had a good night. A big round of applause for our DJ's. Mark was fantastic in the big room and equally great in the small room. Just like listening to Solar but with all of the added atmosphere. James had us all going with the uptempo rarities, promising to sell me his Larry Wright for a fiver LOL. Roddy entertained us with a cracking selection and Don was his usual brilliant self with two great slots. Got to mention Tamsin, Jason's beloved who did a magnificent job on the reception.
