Burnley Allnighter

Phil

The sound quality is always great at Burnley, adding extra speakers will compliment it

Have you got any spare fishing / catching nets sorted for the bats!

cheers

paul

That's what I thought Paul. But when you hear the difference between budget and quality gear, actually in the venue, side by side, you know why one is three times more expensive than the other. I think you will be amazed, as I was. And you only need half volume and it is so loud and clear. Even the mike is so much clearer. I'm very excited about the next nighter. :D

I just wanted to keep everyone up to speed on current developements for the next Burnley Allnighter........ I have had a few people pull me up about the sound system over the last couple of months, so, being totally open to constructive criticism, I've done somthing about it....... Took a day off work today, Gary kindly let me set up in the Kestrel Suite and try some sound checks. I was able to try out different speaker/amp combinations, and from being happy with the sound before. I have now got to hold my hands up, and admit that I was wrong. Having added two Peavy's to the four speakers that I was using before, the difference is staggering. And hopefully there will be another two Peavy's added by the next nighter on the 22nd...... So thanks for the kick up the backside, I hope you will be pleased with the new sound....... I can't wait for the 22nd now.

Phil.

TBHonest Phil - it sounds bloody great to me - mind you ear drumb damage due to seven foot speakers at the Casino and ringing noises all the way home via Chorley to Accrington have probably a lot to do with my shit hearing. My mate Dunc kept coming up to the decks and f***ing around with the knobs... It meant nothing to me, just added vibration through me shoes. If you're happy with the new sound then who am I to disagree... maybe I'll have to try it out if I get asked back to DJ next year

They should change the name of the room to THE BAT SUITE!!!!

Problem with the sound was the mid range button being turned down. After turning it up it sounded better for a few records, then suddenly altered. Probably due to fluff on one of the needles.

ALWAYS CLEAN YOUR VINYL BEFORE A DOING A SPOT (Stuart).

Sound quality was very 70's, but still did not spoil what was a BATFEST of top notch sounds by all the DJs.

If you are bored of listening to the same old records week in and week out, have a change. It's worth it

KN*B FIDDLER!!!!!

Thanks Duncan, but you opened the Gain's too far, and had the levels off the dials. Everyone thinks they are volume controls, but they ain't. The reason it was quiet was that Stuart wasn't sliding the faders fully open. I'm thinking of wiring the gains up to the mains, I'm so sick of everone messing with them. :shades: Either that or remove all the dials from the mixer. :P:rolleyes:

If you come to the next nighter on the 22nd, I think you will hear a big improvement. thumbsup.gif

Best regards, Phil.

I remember Tommy doing a dj spot at the Ritz in Manchester some years ago, it turns out the in-house dj was fed up with the Northern dj's twiddling with his controls on the mixer, so he put great big strips of duck tape across it to stop people adjusting them laugh.gif

NICE ONE PHIL ... all your hard work will be worth it you'll see... :shades:

As for your mixer headache... its a shame you can't get one that looks like a washing machine tongue.gif

No one has mentioned the record dealers on here that turned up at The "BAT" Suite.

There were three or four dealers that turned up with hundreds to choose from. Sounds from £5 to £350 or even more. Didn't go through the lot, but was impressed with what was on offer. (not buying records at the mo as have too many). Labels noteable were three Shrine records and two on Topper and many more of the likes.

Also a couple of guys from Stoke who were selling RnB. (Nigel from Great Harwood bought a few off them) Nigel was the warm up Rnb DJ at Tony's Ballroom. And probably responsible for a lot of new discoveries on that scene.

See you all next nighter if I am not working on a Sat

Dunc (now wearing rubber gloves and insulated shoes!!!!!) wicked.gif
