just came across a real player clip of a cover of Thee Midnighters version of "it'll never be over for me", on www.amazon.com, called "Los Lobos-the covers ep...............................

theres a recent version re-done by the midnighters lead singer (his names gone at moment) more of a 70s sort of groove to it and not bad, also a decent version of "open the door" in same sort of style on same cd

worth checking out imo

I used to really like Los Lobos when they were doing stuff like "Will the Wolf Survive" and all that.

Sounds like they lost the Tex/Mex edge and have gone a bit mainstram US rock now - even if they are Thee midnighters fans.
