I have Flowers "We could make it happen" with a solid centre. Don't think many copies are like this - maybe only 5 or 6.

Think that's the original!

Anyway there are loads of them, I have at least 50-100 of the damn things and some of them even play at 33 rpm :) just to confuse you...

In some cases these where made for use with jukebokes. As they tend not to slip/skid as much as the large whole ones do. As steve said some 7" came out at 33 1/3 a fair few in the 70's not sure why.

....and funnily enough some 12s play at 45 some at 33.... :)

This is the craziest one I've got (and the only solid-centre copy of this title that I've ever seen):

It's an original stamped US copy that haven't had its centre pushed out.

Probably to be able to fit more minutes of music onto one side.

I WAS TOLD THAT THE HOLE HAD NOT BEEN PUNCHED OUT AT THE PLANT IN PRODUCTION BUT WOULDN`T THAT MAKE THEM DEFECTS? IF SO WHY WOULD A LABEL BE PUT ON? THE ONE I HAD WAS A REGULAR IMPORT WITH THE CENTRE PLAIN BLACK.

As far as I know, the label is glued onto the record prior to the large hole being punched out.

There's a whole series of them on the Duke label, and they play at 33rpm from memory.

Yep Ken - remember it well now. Solid centre on Tri-Spin wasn't it?

Thinking back on it now, wasn't Ian Clark's Eddie Bishop demo on ABC also a solid centre press?

Thats what i was told but there was no indication of this on the label, was told later it was just a plant error where the middle hadn`been pushed out in manufacture, but as i said in a earlier reply would they put the label on before pushing the middle out?

would they put the label on before pushing the middle out?

Yes. That is the usual procedure as far as I know.
