A 1976 Rolling Stones album bought for £2 at a car boot sale by a Crich man has sold for £4,000 at auction. The new owner beat off competition from a New York bidder to secure the Black and Blue LP.

Experts think the album was signed as part of a celebration to welcome Ronnie Wood, who replaced Mick Taylor in the Rolling Stones in 1976.

The LP sleeve is signed by the Rolling Stones as well as three Beatles and two of their wives.

Alan Judd, from Bamfords auctioneers said: "This example of a record and printed inner sleeve is almost certainly unique in bearing the signatures of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney, George Harrison, along with Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman and Ronnie Wood."

The man that took the LP to Bamfords, who did not wish to be named, said: "I bought the record because I thought it was cheap and I could use it as a swap.

"I am not even a fan of the Stones - I was looking for Ska and Northern soul...

Remember my old mate SWISH from york going to a record fair in france and buying an album INTRODUCING THE BEATLES on 10" VERVE

not quite on the scale of the rolling stones lp but bought for a fiver n sold for a couplr of hundred i think, wich in 1980 was a good find biggrin.gif

What car boot, my Mother used to go to all the car boots up around there Tansley,Cromford,she would only comes back with tat.

I saw it for sale on their web site.

Kev as you know I only live a stones throw from Crich , there is only one person who I can think of who is into ska and northern , he is a member of THE RIPLEY HARRIERS SC but originally from Barnsley

Once found a early jap Beatles LP, with their name miss spelt 'Beales'. Thought could be rare, couldn't find any info on the net, so thought this must be worth loads. Put it on Ebay and never even got a sniff, listed it under Beatles the whole nine yards. :thumbsup:

I have found tons of stuff,mint "crawdaddy simone"5p,"dont pity me uk demo10p,i`ll hold you uk demo50p etc etc.

Here one i found,sold for £50 wish i hadnt............great version of "comin`home baby"anyone have one so they cant post me mp3 would be good.

Got a mint copy of the showmen, the wrong girl on london,........TEN PENCE.... :thumbsup: but i dont like the record.... :D

about 12 years ago I lived in a small fishing town called Banff and used to go into Aberdeen once amonth or so. This little 2nd hand shop in dyce often had the odd record but one day I walked in to see a cardboard box on the floor and written on it 25pence each or the box for £4.00 There were about 75 records in it. I looked at the first record and thought Ill buy the lot for £4 as that was a bargain for the first one which was a white uk demo of Pet Clarks sign of the times on Pye. Got out to the car and started looking at them and nearly collapsed 4 Beatles Red & White demos Bread & beer band on the first issue Decca demo - £200 even then. Eden St skiffle band 10 flexi disc including the deck to play them £150 at the time and loads more 60s demos of the Move, The Kinks Status Quo, Helen Shapiro, Pretty things Tom Jones and god knows what.

In total I think I made about £950 as I remember not making the Thousand . My Wife enjoyed the trip to Paris
