  1. Allowing for hazy memories, I'm pretty certain I bought this from someone at Blackburn after hearing Guy play it. Never had it long, I either bought it for £45 and sold it for £25 or vice versa. That's not really helpful, is it? Sorry...
  2. Three to shift, quick style: Lloyd & Glen - Minnie Skirts & Go Go Boots - BRA (ex) £200 on the heels of my Caesars cock up the other day, here's another record I stupidly undervalued, but actually sold, too. Won't say the price but a few weeks later I saw another for sale, with another 0 at the end! ?Came across another in my shit box last week, so it's time to make amends... The Caesars - La La I Love You - Lanie (vg++) £70...and speaking of The Caesars, here's 'their other one'. Not in the same league as Girl I Miss You, but a lovely group dancer in it's own right The Opportunity Please Knock Chorus - All This Talk About Freedom - Ramsel vg++ £60 here's an oddity: a rollicking, roistering civil rights-themed banger which - according to the sages on Rare Soul Valuations page - got some attention from the Cockernees down in that there London. They also reckoned on £70... Add £8 for special delivery on anything over £50; make me a reasonable offer for any disc if you're so inclined. Cheers! Alan
  3. ***SOLD*** made a complete and proper arse of this on my sales list yesterday so I'll try again, this time with realistic value but minimal witty sales banter (!) It looks VG++ but plays loud, crisply and clearly; still bears some authentic 1980's cover-up label sellotape residue in the run out groove that does not affect play, from when I had it covered as The Ascots (not that anyone noticed). £280 + £8 Special Delivery, and another 4% if not PayPal'ing as a gift. Ta.
  4. *** ALL REDUCED IN PRICE *** 60’s Northern! Less-Than-Obvious, Stafford-y Type Sounds and 2 Classic Oldies: Bangers, Stompers and the odd Mid Temo. Fill yer boots... :-) The Danderliers - All The Way - Midas (Ex) £100 £90 lesser known dancer on this classic label, and seldom seen The Tribulations - You Gave Me Up For Promises / Mama’s Love - Imperial demo (ex) £55 £45 the record that took Guy Hennigan’s signature “wait for the beat” intro to new levels: slow, soulful intonation that takes it’s time then charges into a good ‘n proper northern stomperoonie. Mama’s Love on flip is classy mid tempo, to boot… The Spidells - If It Ain’t One Thing - Coral (ex) £125 £100 - rare Canadian release quality dancer that never got the recognition it deserved George Byrd - I’m Available / You Better Tell Her So - Tangerine (ex) £80 £70- classic oldie, two fine, classic northern soul dancers The Inverts - Look Out Love - Tower (Vg+) £125 £100 price reflects the condition of this sought after mid tempo gem. Be fair to say this record has fought the good fight and carries the scars of a few campaigns over the years: it has surface scratches, scuffs and some no-good varmint saw fit to cut a little rectangle out of the label, but it plays very well, far more loudly and clearly than it’s appearance suggests. The Fuller Brothers - Stranger At My Door - Soul Clock (Vg+) £240 £220 indemand sweet group sound that plays a likevloud, crisp and clear Ex. ********************************************************************************************************** Terms: Making an offer to buy - please PM me but also note on the sales thread there's a PM on the way. Prices - while I'm sure my prices are reasonable, I might be open to offers on some titles, so ask. Worst that could happen is I’ll say no, or maybe I’ll tell you to bugger off if you’re being really silly, but we’ll still be pals ;-) Shipping - £8 for UK deliveries over £50 by Special Delivery; £3 for 1st Class ‘Signed For’ if under £50. For overseas destinations, please ask. Payment - PayPal only, and must be made on my acceptance of your offer. If you want a wee bit of time to pay then just ask, please don't assume I'll hold a record without prior arrangement. Returns - no quibble, full refund on the safe return of any record, where you disagree with my condition grading or if I haven't mentioned an obvious fault. I make a point of posting pics so you can see the condition of the labels before you buy. I won't accept returns because of a label's appearance, or because you've decided you don't really like the record after all, or some other daft reason. Ok, that's the formal jives out the way. Thanks for looking, hope you find something of interest! Cheers Alan
  5. This?
  6. PM'd ya on Friday - I have one on my list in the Sales page, £45 but open to reasonable offers...

  8. Evening all. Back in the saddle after a couple weeks off, with more from the collection. All in Ex condition unless otherwise stated: *** SOLD *** E.Rodney Jones - Peace of Mind - Tuff sore one to sell, but needs must. Went massive at Allanton in the mid 80's and stayed sought after. One of the...er...Tuffer releases on this iconic label £160 Tony Diamond - Don't Turn Away - Blue Rock demo Vg++ big, rumbling mid tempo monster, and even better than the Tops' original £125 *** SOLD *** Quantrells - Show Me The Game of Love - Yambo good old Stafford dancer £50 *** SOLD *** Lonnie Lester & Chuck Danzy - Ain't That A Shame - Nu Tone gritty, hard-as-nails banger that always fills the floor! £125 *** SOLD *** Bobbie Smith - Walk On Into My Heart - American Arts demo Vg+ lovely mid tempo from the early days of the 60's Newies scene, price reflects condition £70 *** SOLD *** Crown Four - Birth Of A Playboy - Lee John enjoying overdue renewed interest, and on the hardest release £250 Johnson, Hawkins, Tatum & Durr - Your Love Keeps Drawing Me Closer - CapSoul a real good, mid-uptempo tape-swappers staple from back in the day, would have had more turntable action had DJ's not run out of breath introducing the bloody thing! £50 Mill Evans - Why Why Why - King demo Gary Rushbrooke didn't half break some very wonderful records... £150 The Fantastics - High Note/That One - Sound Stage 7 demo a double-sided delight for lovers of male harmony groups, 'That One' was that wee bit more danceable but the Impressions tribute 'High Note' captured hearts. Lovely, lovely soul £135 The Performers - Set Me Free - Mirwood vg+, but still sounds like a typically Mirwood, loud, crisp and clear production £45 Terms: Making an offer to buy - please PM me but also note on the sales thread there's a PM on the way. 9. Cheers Acky, you'll get your 10% Scots Mafia cut if the Cockney geezah takes the bait...
  10. My good man!
  11. I'm yer man T. The label's clean enough from memory, I'll check out the nick of the vinyl tonight. Last price I have noted was from 2 years ago so will need to do some homework. And no, I won't be bribed over that obscene paparazzi snap on Facebook...
  12. Many thanks Chris, just the kind of info I was looking for. I'll bear it in mind.
  13. I've been selling a bit lately, just through SS and the Northern pages on Facebook. I've never sold anything on ebay before and from what I've heard it always seemed to sound like a hassle not worth bothering about, but I've just read through the last 2 pages and by jingo - it does seem to attract a lot of knobheads with lots of money to spend! Are there any types of sound that are more likely to sell, any discernible pattern, or is it just totally unpredictable? A coupe of months back I had read of Bobby Garrett - My Little Girl getting attention again so I fired it up on my next batch of sales, lovely near-mint copy. I also found a knackered boot that I stuck on as an after thought, for £15. I had 11 enquiries for the boot, no interest in the original. I asked one guy WTF was going on, why so much interest; he told me at that moment 7 people were bidding on a boot on ebay, and it was up to £156 with 3 days to go!!! I need some of that action...
  14. Still not sold, at this price? Jeez, tough crowd...
  15. No worries man. Delegates of Soul flew out the door in minutes, but I see another one's popped up on Facebook in the various sales groups. The fella's looking for £500.
  16. Alright Ady The vinyl's marked and has surface scratches; it also sounds like it was recorded on a Dictaphone in a toilet, but everyone I've had (4 over the years) sounded like that, it's just a poor quality recording. Perfectly suitable for DJ'ing and, depending on your taste, for play at home.
  17. Howdy y'all! A wee change from my usual 60's Northern selection, some crossover goodies today. I'm referring to the type of sound Rod Dearlove had in mind when he brought the phrase to prominence in Voices From The Shadows in the early 90's, when this sound really started to get serious turntable action: late 60's records that sounded kinda 70's-ish, so appealed to that 70's/'Modern' crowd; and early/mid 70's recordings that still pushed the 60's mob's buttons. Tuck in… *** SOLD *** Delegates of Soul - I'll Come Running Back - Up Look Ex cond £450 (yes, there was one for £300 on Facebook a couple of months ago, and it seemed to sell within nanoseconds. I suspect the seller could have shifted dozens more at that price, and wouldn't be so generous next time...) Choice of Color - Your Love - APT Ex cond £320 (lovely, lovely oldie that sounds as good as ever) The Composers - Let's Get To The Point / Chances Go Round - Complex 3 looks VG++, plays Ex+ £90 (fine double sider that's getting attention again) Bobby Foster - If You Really Need A Friend - Sound Plus Ex cond £50 (fab 70's Northern) James Kelly Duhon - In School - Jude Ex cond £75 (see above, and another that's getting renewed interest) Harold Currington - One Day Girl - Tad Ex cond £100 (occasional Dave Thorley spin from the Stafford era, very tidy mid tempo) *** SOLD *** Bonnie Blanchard & Andy Aaron - You're The Only One - CRS VG+ £225 (demand continues a plenty for gem. Condition dictates the price) *** SOLD *** Bobby Long & Dealers - Gotta Have Love Too - Old Town WD looks VG+, plays Ex £125 (dug this out after about 25-odd years of it sitting fallow in the collection. This fits Rod's definition of crossover to a 'T', wonderful record) *** SOLD *** Ronnie McCain - This Time I'm Gone - Triode Ex+ cond £225 (a wee bit delicate for early 80's ears when Pat Brady first tried it out, but perfect now!) *** SOLD *** The Philharmonics - I Need, I Need Your Love - Soulin Ex cond £100 (such a gorgeous, soulful dancer) *** SOLD *** Jessie Fisher - You're Not Loving A Beginner - Way Out Ex- cond £225 (on the rarer white/red label; super fine early 70's Northern Soul) ****** Terms: Want one? - please PM me but also note on the sales thread there's a PM on the way. If I've marked a record as being ***ON HOLD*** please still let me know you're interested - 'on hold' don't necessarily mean sold! Prices - while I'm sure my prices are reasonable, I might be open to offers on some titles, so ask, it won't do any harm (unless you're being really silly) Shipping - £8 for Special Delivery to UK destinations for orders over £50, £3 for under. For overseas destinations, please ask. Payment - PayPal only, and must be made on my acceptance of your offer. If you want a wee bit of time to pay then just ask, but please don't assume I'll hold a record without prior arrangement. If you don' t pay immediately or as agreed, I'll go back to the 2nd guy who wanted it (if there is one). Returns - no quibble, full refund on the safe return of any record, where you disagree with my condition grading or if I haven't mentioned an obvious fault. I'm making a point of posting photos of all sales, so you can see the condition of the labels before you buy. I won't accept returns because of a label's appearance, or because you've belatedly decided you don't really like the record after all, or you've seen it's cheaper elsewhere: a deal’s a deal! Ok, that's formal stuff out the way. Thanks for looking, hope you find something that floats yer boat! Cheers Alan
  18. PM'd yer
  19. Me too, convinced for 30 years Joey was a sultry voice vixen. Holy shit, my bad...
