  6. Sounds a bit like a cliche But our crew walked in to the Sherrys at Wigan on the 1st one must have been first in the queue only due to the fact that we arrived in Wigan early 7:30 not realising that the place didn't open 'til 2 so we went to the movies Last Tango in Paris and to an Indian restruant on the market before queueing up to go in. The record that stuck in my memory was the Invitations Skiing in the Snow. Can't remember were they bi-weekly or monthly in the early days? Had a bowling shirt for the next one though
  7. I'll second that meanwhile for all the Jazz heads there's plenty of footage of the Chico Hamilton Quintet in , The Sweet Smell of Sucess Due to the ammount of Rosie Greir mentions is it about time to bring up his other claim to fame.......... Needlepoint!

  10. This track hit me right between the eyes when I first heard it at the Casino. Had me rushing to the decks to see who it was I'd always been a fan of the Hot Wax/Invictus lables so I thought it might be Honey Cone or Laura Lee. Totaly suprised to learn that HDH had another lable in the states and it was a young lady called Eloise Laws managed to snag a copy about a year later for £6.00 at the Ritz and it will always be my top ever 'modern anthem' Incidently the record that followed it at the Casino that night was Fantastic Johnny C Don't depend on me got to be another anthem Guess this was all around 74-75 When did the 1st Modern records creep into playlists John
