  1. Very Sad News Indeed. Fellow DJ at the Cleethorpes Pier All Niters & Beyond. Introduced many a great tune to the Scene, loved his Music & knew a great tune when he found one & was a great asset to the team, always up for a laugh. Rest In Peace Dave. Condolences to All his Family & Close Friends.
  2. Some very interesting posts and information there you guys and yes it is a tough one to call, even for us oldies on here ( i'm 74 btw) and the way info and promoting events was very different back then to what we have today and the old brain cells ain't what they used to be it has to be said Flamingo is Very early & the adds full of information & and The Scene Club sounds very interesting too, so more info on that would be wonderful if anybody has any, thanks for replies up to now you guys, looking forwards anything else that may be out there. Rick
  3. Sorry if the question has been asked before but i cannot recollect it. Reason being i have received an Email asking the Question and to be honest i have not got a clue. so over to you guys and thanks & in advance for Your Help. Rick.
  4. Aside from the football being played, do you think the incessant Drum Banging in some games which is really loud and over powering some times particularly when the drummer is down close to pitch side where the TV Sound pick up Mics are situated, are drowning out \ competing with match commentary getting on your nerves to the extent like me muted the sound or worse still i abandoned the game altogether during some games. This is not the case with every game & i am not a kill joy by the way as the drum has become a part of the game to rally round the crowd and players but sitting at home trying to enjoy the game on TV some times it it is just a bit too much, for me this only seems to have come to the fore during this tournament and not having the desired effect with the Fans & players so far.
  5. Have too agree with comments so far, the play acting, going down when hardly (touched, if at all) and games that were boring Stop Start, stop start affairs, Walking football would be far more enjoyable, other than the Odd Game a Bore Fest.
  6. Defo Played out by myself as a New release. Perfect Shuffling/stomping Dance beat for the Cleethorpes Pier & Winter Gardens Attendees & feel sure The Blackpool Mecca Amongst others played it as well. RIP Lalo Schifrin
  7. I seem to remember reading some where that Berry Gordy wasn't best pleased on his artists "Moon Lighting" for other Labels Artists..... not just singers but musicians as well, Any one else confirm this ?
  8. My gripe back then was like a lot of other Collectors & DJs (remember we had no Internet back then ) was not just Rare 45s being booted as fast as we could play them but very good look-a-like boots sold as Originals even to the extent that they were deliberately lightly Scuffed and marked to appear Authentic, happened to me quite often until i was able to compare with a real Original and tried to be a bit more savvy before parting with my cash but we could only do so much at that time.
  9. Thank you for the Music Sly ' Loved Spinning M'Lady ' You left us some fabulous Music ...Thank You... Condolences to Your family and Close Friends for their Loss. RIP Sly Stone
  10. This was big for me right from the get go Bought as new release when i Heard on Pirate Radio and First aired at my soul Nite at the Friendship Inn Keadby (Village near Scunthorpe) great memories.
  11. I Had Couple of Very expensive records ruined by Back Cueing in the past at venues i'd DJ'd at (Tough Girl & Love Slipped through my fingers) so after that experience i Stoped back cueing all together. Placing the Stylus at the beginning of a record then have a listen to hear how long it is before the sound kicks in and with a bit of practise it becomes a dodle and press the play button couple of seconds before you end your introducing it, works for me. Other Nightmares for me is turning up at a venue to DJ at and finding COINS or other heavy stuff stuck on top of the head shell, when i asked the promoter why that was i was told, Old styluses mate, so it stops the record from Jumping. Record box Box Lid Closed and headed for the exit. I have actually come across a DJ to two who carried a couple of Cartridges & his own Mic & Headphones to Venues. 😉 Commitment or What ?
  12. What a Sad Time This Is as i have Very Fond Memories of the Tunes i have played in my sets by John. One of the All Time Great Voices we have been Privileged to Enjoy. Condolences, Peace And Love, To All His Family And Very Close Friends.
  13. One person i remember very well who Loved The Mic was BUB, you Just new that Arthur And the Coalminers were going to get a mention, and no that was not a cover up 😃, many of our older Soulies on here will have many a fond memory or story about him and yes, he always found the time to tell you what he was playing and to get on that ******* dance floor.
  14. All the previous comments speak for themselves and he was just that, everything you would want for in a True Friend and the rest.......... A very sad day and a great lose to the music Scene.
