  1. PM'd you Christian.
  2. This was one of the first 'Northern' soul records I ever bought (boot of course). I would sit with my eyes shut and it just would transport me to a far off place where music of this atmosphere and class was being made by people that no-one knew about. It made me feel privilidged to be someone who could listen to it and 'get' it, and also know that there wasn't a cat in hell's chance of me explaining the feeling or the music to anyone in school the next day. So I would just keep it to myself. I've always loved the instrumental of this particularly, with it's haunting simplicity.

Since the dawn of time, well since the 90's, this has always been £75, never gone up, never gone down. Obviously at long last it must be getting plays somewhere. Didn't Plumby always have this for sale?
  4. Oh my! Shivers!!!!!
  5. Is that a hob knob Aid
  6. ?
  7. Somebody must have a copy surely?
  8. A record I have meant to pick up for years but something else has always come along to take priority, so finally, has anyone got a nice copy of this Willie Tee masterpiece for me please? Jordi

    Christ on a bike, what a bargain! £300 for a G+ boot.
  10. I sold a mint copy last week for £75.
  11. Most of the above mentioned rock and pop acts I would imagine.
  12. Shouldn't be too difficult if Rod adopts his old Afflecks palace sales technique of leaving you in charge of the stall while he goes out for a fag.
  13. Yes, you're right Chalky, I wasn't talking about big mainstream do's or even smaller working men's clubs types of events, I've completely given up on those nights. I suppose I was really talking about events that aren't 60's 'northern soul' per se.
  14. Yeah but that's not a thing of the past is it? It's still happening.
  15. I don't know you Salmon, but I hope things turn out well for you. All the best to you and your family. Best...Jordi
  16. To me it's one of the most uplifting, joyful, feelgood tunes ever, brilliantly sung with a wonderful backing track. And it's a great dancer.
  17. Yes John, it's a United Record Inc.test press of the Appleray 45. Jordi
  18. John, Mine's got a raised capital in the matrix stamp. It's a definite original. I've had the boot before and it's on vinyl but it's a shit recording and very low in the mix with no bass, awful sound. I've never seen a boot or repro that is on styrene. You're right though, it's certainly not a 45 I'd sell. I don't buy a lot of northern as such, but this is one of my all time fav 45's. I also reckon that this has got to be a £300 record at least. Atb...Jordi
  19. It was really nice to be able to play music without dancefloor pressure. The Dulcimer, for anyone who doesn't know, is a two floor bar and hasn't got a dancefloor as such, although people just dance where they are standing. It got packed out and while I was DJing upstairs, I didn't realise that the music was being piped downstairs, so you have tons of people on two floors and the beer garden all grooving at the same time. The crowd aren't a soul crowd as such, but they get really into the music, I had a few questions from people about tracks I played who were'nt soul heads. Well worth a visit to the next one with Greg Belson!! Jordi
  20. Sorry this is a bit (lot) late. This what I played roughly in order, and a very enjoyable hour and a half it was (for me anyway ) Pat Stallworth - Questions (Fly By Night) Singing Principal - Thank you baby (UK Action) Jackie Johnson - How Tough it was (Ranbilson) BBP - I'm in the Prime of love (Stang) Inell Young - What do you see in her (Libra) Myrna Barnes - Message from a soul Sister (King) Isley Brothers - Work to do (T-Neck) Sylvia - My Thing (Vibration) Irene Scott - Everyday Worries (Midas) Ted Hall - Man in Demand (Red Bird) Joe Bataan - Under The Street Lamp (Uptite) Patti Jo - Make me Believe in You (Wand) Rhythm Machine - Put a Smile on Time (Lulu) Quartette Tres Bien - Boss Tres Bien (Norman) Wayne Carter - Wahoo Wahoo (Mootreys) Deloris Ealy - It's About time I Made a Change (Velvet) Gil Scot Heron - Lady Day John Coltrane (Flying Dutchman) Aggregation - A Child is Born (Charity) Kelly & The Soul Explosions - Talking About My Baby's Love (Dynamite) Bobby Blues Ray - Soul (Ross) Gloria Barnes - I'll Call you Back Later (Maple) Marva Whitney - Giving Up On Love (T-Neck) Wanda McDaniels - Gangster Boy (Acetate) Cross Bronx Expressway - Help your Brothers (Zell's) Lennie Hibbert - Montego Rock (Studio One) Bob Andy - Going Home (Coxsone) Bob Andy - You Don't Know (UK Green Door) Double O's Demingos - Color One Tear Black pt2 (Split) Ralph Weeks - Let Me Do my Thing (Sally Ruth) Len Jewell - Elevator Song (Pzazz) Roy Dodson - Spark of Fire (Star West)

Is there a Women's own forum Jim?
  22. Yep, definitely Gaz. He was and still is a big influence on me, he never ceases to play me a tune round his house that gets my juices flowing, most recently blew my mind with The Singing principal - "Thank you baby" on of all labels UK Action. Absolute sublime stuff. He does still DJ and he will always play a proper connoisseur's set but with an eye on the punters and the dancefloor. Top lad!
  23. You're a few years out of date with the bumping thing Richard. Sales don't go to the top anymore when a new post comes in. Shame really, some good things sink without trace.
  24. Cracking tune. A definite dancefloor monster, killer drums.
  25. I only go to TK Maxx to hear what music they've got on in the shop.
