  1. Are you sure about this boot? I can't understand why this would get booted in the US. What demand would there be? Is / was there a scene for these smooth funk tunes over there? I'll have to dig my copy out now to have look. Jordi
  2. 2 step (and rare groove) was what got me back into the scene and collecting bug again in the late 80's. There was always a killer 2 step track buried away on most late 70's / early 80's soul albums and it was always fun trying to find them. The Americans call 2 step 'smooth funk' I was once told by a dealer.
  3. Blimy Mark, that's bizarre, I dug that out and played it at home a few nights ago. Lovely tune, what a shame it was never on a 45 or even 12". Jordi
  4. That's Derek & Ray's Interplay you're thinking of there Kev.
  5. Wow!!! That's amazing. Everyone's going to be trawling for Shaky records now. I always think of Shaky doing his erm.....dance routine on top of the pops, doing a spin but ending up only half way round facing his backing band, then he shuffled round to face the audience and carried on with his moves. It made me howl....or was it Russ Abbot?

It's got to be 'My heart is true' all day long for me.
  7. Brilliant tune!
  8. Parkers in Manchester would certainly beg to differ as well. Big, packed heaving dancefloor all night everytime to connoisseur 2 steppers. There is a really good definitive list on here somewhere that lists tons of classic 2 step tunes. R. Kelly certainly ain't one of them just 'cos it's got 'Step' in the title, that's just your regular modern mid tempo plodder, or 'giffer' soul as Jason Stirland brilliantly once christened the genre.
  9. Is there an intrumental of it on the flip?
  10. Fabulous tune!
  11. Yes Kev, it's 70's version. Really nice. Actually I think I may be asking too high for that so I will reduce to £35

  13. Fabulous record.
  14. I had 5 stone mint store stock copies of Sonny Till - I gave it all up from a US website some years ago for $3 each........which was nice.
  15. Yes, and I was talking with him about said record last night/this morning.
  16. That's what I thought.
  17. Really like the Bobby Jackson Paul and the Ash Soul Inc of course. That Faithgage sounds sweet as a nut too.
  18. This is the first demo version of the song by Ila Vann. Good but doesn't touch Melissa's BBP's version.

Do you need an Ethics - I want my baby back?
  20. I used to play this out when it was a £20 record and i always used to say on the mic that 'this should be a massive northern tune'. it looks like finally it is becoming massive, and so it should be , it' s a f'ckin awesome piece of feel good, uptempo killer group harmony soul. If it was rare it would be worth a bomb, at least £450....oh right.
  21. Anderson soul pack record that I let go for a soul pack price years ago.
  22. I think they'd all walked one at a time through Jimmy Savile's dressing room first.
  23. Yes, that's exactly it. I was going to say it looked like some random magazine picture stuck on as a label.
  24. It's definitely a Jamaican nice vinyl press. I bought a few reggae things from a guy that had 700+ Jamaican bits up on Ebay and this was also one I had. These all came from a DJ's collection I think as a lot of them had 'Siddys' written in marker pen on them. Actually, this is not blank as such, it has some vague odd imagery on it but no text whatsoever on either side
