Who Were The Best Producers
George Kerr for me as well. Just love his "sound". Atmospheric with loads of space to hear vibes, strings etc, but not over polished, still with a raw edge. Also Curtis Mayfield's Curtom early 70's productions are faultless on acts like Natural 4 and Leroy Hutson etc. Even if the producer doesn't twiddle any knobs himself, he knows and gets the right people in to arrange and engineer etc. Jordi

A Few Nice 60's Bits For Sale

Is it the Executive Jam 45? Jordi- George Wilson On Stang 5007
Steve, I think Butch sold a copy to Arthur Fenn the night me and Dave played last at the Orwell. Dave was champing at the bit to get it, but it was earmarked for Arthur. Jordi- Values Anyone
Not sure about the Henderson & Jones but the others are about £1500 - £2000 each I would have thought. So next time you're down your local record shop you can go and buy 'em. Jordi- Jaspers In York Oct'80
I used to know Jinxy well and used to knock round with Mick Hussey back then. Rudies was my stomping ground at that time and I used to travel to Wigan with the Scarborough lot. Jordi- O.t. Sykes - Singing Dentist
Didn't the Skullsnaps do a bit of evening work on the side? Jordi- Jaspers In York Oct'80
Bloody Hell Derek! I used to go to Jaspers, with a few of the Scarborough soullies. I'd love to see some more photo's. Jordi- Is This The Longest Soul 45?
Crown Heights Affair - "Love Me" / "Dancin'" UK Contempo. I'm sure that both sides of this went on for about 8 mins each. Then there was Kool & Gang - "Open Sesame" again on UK Contempo that went on for about 8 mins also, I seem to remember. Jordi- 45 Set Sale (plus 1 Lp)

Mine's on vinyl, in fact I've never seen it on styrene. Jordi- Looking For Satin-your Loves Got Me
Mark, we're not talking about "Look on your face". The record I'm on about by Satin is "Give all your love to me" (or sommat like that, i can't be arsed to go and dig it out), it's more of an uptempo 70's modern thing. As has been said, it's a lousy press but a good tune never the less. As far as I know the only way to have it is on this press. Jordi- Looking For Satin-your Loves Got Me
Great tune tho'. Jordi- La Familia Inc On Bsr...buena Suerte Records
Simon t has put a soundfile of La Familia Inc in the Latin soul thread if anyone needs to hear this. Jordi- James Shorter
I don't know how to do 'em Ted. Jordi- La Familia Inc On Bsr...buena Suerte Records
--> QUOTE(mark.b @ Jun 14 2006, 06:16 PM) link hard to get i think jordi or dave sold one to john nightingale would have thought £250 + i want one also. mark beat me to it steve you must have been writing at the same time. mark Yes Mark, I did have it. It went to Christian B over in Oslo, I guess that copy came back to the Nightingales. I paid £300 for it about 2 years back. Jordi- The Major Iv
Cracking tune Mark, I hadn't heard that one. I do agree with Molly though in that my favourite is Down in the Ghetto. Always reminds me of Jimmy Conwell and the Exits sound and production for some reason. Jordi- James Shorter
I bought my James Shorter (about £50 a few months ago off Ebay ) on the strength of the Masqueraders version. The Masqueraders is on the lp Love Anonymous and it's a 70's take on the song, and it's a cracking version. Jordi- Four Tunes You'll Probably Know
Great tunes Dan. Otis Leavill is a big spin in my house! Jordi- Cania "visions" Tammy Jo Re-issue?
I agree with you Ivor. A great tune that never gets played out. I'm sure after all the copies have dried up and gone into collections it will become a sought after tune. Great pleading vocals. Jordi - Heard The Rumours
