  1. I've got this on the flip to Everybody Have a good Time. UK Philly 12" from 1976. It was in fact the very first 12" I ever bought. Lovely record but Everybody... is a cracker also. But there must be loads kicking about. It'll be tenner again in 6 months time after all the Ace Spectrum/ Party time Man fans have bought all the overpriced copies off Ebay and most of the DJ's have stopped playing it. Jordi
  2. Just PM'd you. Jordi
  3. I've got a shit version by The Ones on Motown. Awful white pop/rock version I unwisely took a blind punt on. Jordi
  4. I wouldn't call it hard Pete, there must be hundreds of these around. Expensive yes, but not hard. Bit of an Ace Spectrum as far as I can see. It's been flogged to death since the 80's, has been sampled god knows how many times and been on various compilation lp's. Surely it's time to move on to other 70's tunes nice tho' it is. Jordi

Have we had Keanya Collins' - 'Arse Bandit' yet? Jordi
  6. One of my all time fav's. It doesn't get played enough. It is rare and expensive and very collectable also by the doo wop fraternity for the flip which is also great. The last third of the flip just goes into crossover heaven, well worth waiting for if give it a spin. Jordi

Johnny Taylor's version is smoother and more mid tempo. Spreadlove is raw and more of a dancer, great record. The orig lp will set you back a couple of hundred but it has been re released. The Executive Jam record is a future big 'un I reckon and it actually sounds vocally very similar to the Spreadlove track. I managed to give my copy it's first public airing last night and it went down very well.
  8. About £50 Brett. Jordi
  9. Yeah me as well Ali, which is why I sold my copy at the weekend to that nice Mr. flanders. The song is just too poppy and singalong for my rough edged ears. Jordi
  10. Joe it's going to Yarmouth with me tomorrow. If I can't sell or trade it there I will let you know. I need the cash for this weekend otherwise you could have it now. Jordi
  11. Thanks for the help Paul. Jordi
  12. I've never seen it for sale but I remember someone once saying it was a very rare Contempo release which made me think 'I'm sure I've got a copy somewhere', so I dug it out. Ah well I might as well put it back and the 4th Kingdom. Cheers...Jordi
  13. Might take you up on that Gareth, although I'm trying to raise a few quid for record tokens. Jordi
  14. Can anyone give me valuations on the following; 4th Kingdom - Gotta Get To You / Why Do You Think They Call It Dope. (CORE) Pioneers - My Good Friend James. (UK Mercury) Bobby Byrd - Thank You For Your Love. (UK Contempo) Howeefeel - Just Can't Do Without Your Love. (UK Contempo) If anyone is interested in these let me know. Jordi

Tell you what Rodge, I wouldn't mind a cut of that CD myself. Excellent stuff that would sound great in the car! I've got a lot of them but not easily reachable to play Jordi I could even do you a CD of Flat cap 70's in return.

Some of the American 'hairy chested 'stuff on vinyl that did it for me back then in addition to a good few already listed were lp's by; Gene Rice Men at Large Gangsters and Thugs Wil Downing Blu By All Means None of these were cheap productions by one man and his bontempi, but full polished productions. Without going thru my records there were plenty of others as well. There was some great stuff being done that didn't stray into the Swingbeat kiddi territory which became the urban R'n'B we all love today. Jordi

Yeah I tend to go with the Jean Battle except for the fairground 'Bobby Crush and his amazing swelling organ' bit in the middle which just spoils it a bit for me. Jordi
  18. Lp should cost between £50 - £100. 2 main tracks for me are "I'll come running back" and "Midnight Affair". Jordi
  19. I could really do with a copy of the Sammy Turner (ex lead singer with the Platters) on Musicor. I can't remember the title but it's a nice mid tempo thing. Anyone got one for me? Jordi
  20. Steve, from the look on Sam's face when he heard my bro play it about 5 years ago and ran up to the decks nearly tripping up on the steps in his rush to see what it was, I doubt that he had it. After finally getting his own copy from Butch he always generously credited Dave with turning him on to it whenever he played it. Jordi
  21. It used to be about £80-£100 a couple of years back. I've been trying to get one for a few years. I would guess about £150 now although lots a peeps seem to be after it, so another I'll stop chasing as the price has probably gone stupid. Jordi
  22. I have to say as mainly a lover of 70's stuff that this track is the business!! very different from most 60's yet very cool. I don't know what Tim Brown means by lack lustre. I'd love to hear some stuff like this played out ..... mixed in with some uptempo crossover dancers of course!! Jordi
  23. My favorite version of this is a Reggae version by Frankie Zhivago Young. Pure bliss, with the best brass arrangement ever on vinyl. (in my opinion). Taken from his LP with " Somebody Stole My Love" on.
  24. I'll try sending from a different computer.
