  1. How sad, had some mad times in his company x
  2. Had some fantastic nights at Piercebridge over the years, looking forward to more of the same
  3. Not played mine for years but sure it's OK and not off centre x
  4. Might be an idea to check the stage for any rogue items hanging around before Roger's on. Remember when he was on in Carl and Maria's room at Middleton, and he came steaming onto the dance floor with an upright vacuum cleaner in full Freddie Mercury mode 😂
  5. Really looking forward to it
  6. What a shock, and so sad x
  7. WHAT. A. NIGHT. I won't leave a 'starred' review, as I think that's for you guys to give if you so wish, but jeez, talk about blown away. Since covid put an end to things, we've been thinking about putting something on but always wondered if anyone still wanted it. I think last night showed that you do. People were getting seated half an hour before we were due to start, with a full dance floor shouting for more after the last record was played at 2am. Amazing. Massive thanks to Baz for asking us to take over for the night, and to our DJs Carl Fortnum, Lenny Harkins, and Kev Murphy for not putting a tune wrong. But the biggest thanks goes to you guys, you make Grumpy what it is, and you're all flipping brilliant 🥰
  8. Thanks Baz, at last it's finally here! Lenny and Co are on fire and on the train as I type, Carl's doing his vocal excercises, Kev's toying with his which side gets an airing dilemma, and Phil's just tempted the Grumpy cat into his holdall, so it's all systems go. There really is such a good buzz about tonight, and that's down to you guys. See you all later
  9. This thread has everything - Michelin level culinary delights, audio selection possibilities, the shocking revelation of Lenny airing his washing line hopping in public, the insider swoop on Carl gargling with honey and lemon pre-night ritual (expect a song or three), Phil has already surpassed double giddy status, and Kev might buckle and be tempted over to the b side 😲 Add to that all the texts and calls we've had from people really looking forward to a Grumpy get together, and you have a long overdue pilgrimage of like-minded souls from all corners heading to Culcheth village hall. Good uns the lot of ya!
  10. You're right Bob, I'm not cheerful 😂 Be great to see you x
  11. Oh yes, there'll be plenty to go at Saturday night. Carl, Lenny, Kev, and Phil will bring the rare, the fabulous, and everything in between, yours truly the cheap and cheerful. So expect your favourites, your rarities, your exclusives, your one-offs, your classics, but above all expect quality. It's going to be great!
  12. Hi Chalky Yes it was filmed, will share when it's edited and posted online x
  13. I proper enjoyed it. Both Stuart and John were funny, honest, and as you would expect, extremely knowledgeable. You never would have known it was the first time they had ever met in person, they were like longtime friends catching up, such brilliant chemistry. Didn't focus too much on the books, had more of a northern soul feel, talking about Stuart's journey from soul boy to author, and all the twists and turns along the way. Stuart put John on the spot midway through with a live valuation session for some of his collection that he had brought with him, absolutely hilarious. Great banter and brilliant stories from both made for a fabulous couple of hours. I can't thank them enough for being so candid, and for sharing so much with us all.
  14. Hi everyone 😊 The space is set up and Stuart and John are well up for it, so a great afternoon is in store. Event starts at 3pm, and museum doors open at 2.30pm for those who want to look around and get settled. Waterstones will be downstairs in the exhibition space at the end of the event for those who are inspired and want to buy a book, and Stuart has kindly agreed to do a signing. See you later
  15. Just had word that the whistlers are heading down en masse from north of the border 🥰 Hope the bar's well stocked Baz! Such a great buzz about the night, can't wait
  16. He didn't ring Mick, he staggered back in after two hours looking like he had been wandering lost in the desert for a month 😂
  17. Really looking forward to this, as are quite a few I hear which is brilliant. Been a long time since the Grumpy faithful got together, can't wait For those who have never been to a Grumpy shindig, it's just great tunes, all night, regardless of price. Carl will bring you everything you can think of, plus a great singing voice. Phil raises the bar in both stature and quality. Lenny is an all round good egg with more than a cracking tune or two, and Kev professionally fills in any kinks or dents in the proceedings. Most importantly, you guys bring the phwoarrrr. What's not to love!
  18. As promised, here are the audience questions from the panel event. It really was a special afternoon and I can't thank Tim B, Ian, Tim A, Gary, and Richard enough for their passion and support xx
  19. Sorry for the late reply everyone, not been too good. Here is the link to the panel event. The audience questions will be uploaded soon, will post here when they're up x

  23. Here's the man himself when he dropped it off x
  24. Really looking forward to it Tony
