Colin Curtis And The Soul Junction Story
I really enjoyed this too. It makes you really appreciate how much good music has come out on that label when you hear one after the other. I don't agree with their mainly vinyl only philosophy though. I hope the forrthcoming compilations will appear on CD

Essential 12"s
OK, in an effort to be more helpful, I've picked this. It's not my favourite 12" of all time as I don't know what is but it's one that springs to mind as I never tire of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHt_IJM9S3c

Essential 12"s
Blimey. It's like asking what's you favourite 45, LP or CD. Or even your favourite soul record. Such a broad spectrum of 10,000s to choose from.

Handbags At Dawn
It went commercial a long time ago. I've just back from Caister and there was a northern soul hour on there featuring The Snake and Do I Love You on CD . To be fair, he did play some other goos stuff like The Majestics, Adams Apples and Gene Woodbury. I had a bit of a dance. It beated standing standing there looking like a miserable chinstroker

I've got a couple more too. I can't remember the exact titles but one was full of instrumentals only. Soulful Kinda Music is a great LP.

16 Years of Fun - Soul Source 1997-2013
Congratulations Mike. I think I first visited about 14/15 years ago. Your early reviews of the London soul nights helped to get me out and about, especially with the lifts back from the Dome!

News: Are Re-Edits And Mash Ups Killing Soul Music?
He was lead singer on the All Things Happen in Time LP, which was very good. Tell Me Why and Ain't That Love being particularly good.

Eddie Kendricks "date In The Rain" Unknown 12" Remix ?
It's quite good though, isn't it? As long as it isn't a re-edit that's killing the scene

News: Are Re-Edits And Mash Ups Killing Soul Music?
In terms of the original question, yes too much overkill of anything is bad. Personally I prefer a greater proportion of new stuff and DJ's with imagination. Is tere a modern scene still? I don't go out much these days but there are certainly many variations of it. THere's plenty of dos advertised on EMS and I'm sure that a lot of the same people attend these. Down in Kent, there's loads of activity on the Caister / 70s,80s soul stuff. It's surprised me how popular it still is. It's totally different from what I know as the modern scene and it's more akin to the northern oldies scene with people listening to their faves over and over again.

Motown - The Musical
I didn't make it when I visited in June but it was clear it was popular. Almost sold out every night, great reviews and no reduced tickets in the Times Square booth
