  1. What utter cobblers, I wouldn't call Solid Hit Soul a shitty local soul night! By the way what is the real soul scene?
  2. That means they've only played 23% of the tracks on it.
  3. He's not too keen on Soul although I have heard him singalong in the back of the car . He does like a bit of guitar based music, stuff by The Clash, The Specials, The Ruts (Staring at the Rude Boys), but his favourite group is The Who & the McVicar soundtrack CD! Dunno what his classmates think of him!
  4. Whilst out yesterday in the car I discovered that my son has got defective hearing. I had playing in the car an old tape, on came Melba Moore singing The Magic Touch. A little way into the song I heard my 6 year old son pipe up with the following comment "That sounds like Amy Winehouse!" AAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH! I have arranged an appointment for him at the local ear, nose & throat clinic as a matter of some urgency. What edit?
  5. I found a copy of The Stage paper on the train at work Sunday, surprised to find a review inside it. As I can't be bothered to type it all up I'll just post a link. >>Stage Review<<
  6. Since joining this fabulous forum I have regularly seen mentioned soul packs and how people got great records for little money so many years ago. Having never purchased a soul pack before I have a few questions. Do record dealers still sell soul packs? If they do is it just a way of shifting crap records that aren't worth a light? Has anyone bought any recently and if so, any good tunes in them?

Would people please stop posting up these finishing prices. We don't wish to encourage other record dealers to up their prices.
  8. You say it's for your grandson, but we all know better.
  9. A bit late now I know, but no mention of Groovin' by The Young Rascals.
  10. IMO, Under the Streetlamp is the better of the two sides.
  11. Sharon Jones - How Long Do I Have To Wait - daptone Angel - Break Out The Tears - Real Side Al Williams - Try Them - Grapevine
  12. £80! Maybe on the Kent Anniversary one, but I wouldn't have thought this would be worth £80 on Horace's .
  13. Very interested, but no money for another month unfortunately!
  14. Touch wood, but I've never had any problems with Paypal or Ebay. If people don't like the fees why not just set up your own web sites to sell stuff, sure you get free web space with most ISP's. Or failing that what about Martin Thomsons site, he offers free listings.
  15. If I was selling or buying to/from a friend, why should they be treated any different to any other seller/buyer? The only concession I would make is maybe time to pay for something. I wouldn't want to rip off a mate, but by the same token I wouldn't want to be ripped off. Does that make sense?
  16. Yes, thanks but not for sale. I was told this was a cheap record to buy. I was fortunate and got a copy from a second hand shop for a fiver, but then l have seen a copy go for approximately £90 on Ebay recently! Anyway I hope you manage to get one and at the lower end of the price range.
  17. How much for an original of this then?
  18. Funnily enough I was playing some of mine yesterday. Although I haven't got the one you have it is advertised on the back cover of one of mine, I assume yours was the first volume. They contain stuff like Frances Nero - Keep On Loving Me, Temptations - (Girl) Why You Wanna Make Me Blue, Marvellettes - I'll Keep Holding On, Brenda Holloway - Starting The Hurt All Over, The Contours - Just A Little Misunderstanding, Barbara Randolph - I Got A Feeling and stuff by Al Kent, Shorty Long, The Isley Brothers, Kim Weston amongst others.
  19. Does anyone know why there were two different coloured promos?
  20. Strolling! Bloke at work goes to these 50's nights says about Strolling, he said Booker T's Green Onions would be classed as a stroller, whatever that means! What's this Rocker doing here?
  21. I don't buy the Daily Mail, but picked one up that was left on a train today. Anyway I digress, inside was an article raising the question was Florence Ballard murdered? Apparently she did 8 hours of taped interview before her death, it would be interesting to hear what she had to say. Anyway here's the link >>click here<<
  22. Was just thinking the same thing!
  23. Before opening this, thought you might of meant this one. Are they the same group?
