Soul Night, Allnighter, Alldayer
Soulnights for me. It's hard enough getting released for these, let alone an allnighter. If I wish to attend an allnighter I have to apply for leave from the wife at least 24 months in advance! For which I am sure they are very grateful.

Play Lists, Are They A Good Thing?
Back on topic, I don't mind if people want to post up their playlists. It just gives me the opportunity of reading them and think to myself "don't know it, don't know it, shit, excellent, don't know it, etc.," You get the idea.

How many soul (northern) records were released on the London label? Are they genuine first UK releases? Also which ones are the rarest or the most wanted? Your All Time Top Five
I was thinking about this thread whilst out driving today, so here's mine(not in any particular order). By the way I've cheated as I couldn't choose between 2 records. 1. Laura Lee - To Win Your Heart First heard this on a scratched old copy of the Ric-Tic Relics LP, which I bought at a carboot many years ago. Wasn't until I discovered Ebay that I managed to get myself a copy. Still the most money I've ever spent on a record. 2. Frank Wilson - Do I Love You I haven't heard this played out in years, I still think it's excellent. I bought my copy at Exmouth scooter run 1985 for £2, the best £2 I ever spent IMO. I also had it played at my wedding reception. 3. Frank Beverly & The Butlers - If That's What You Wanted / Billy Butler - The Right Track I couldn't choose between them, top class northern soul both of them. True sometimes you can hear some records so often that you get sick of them, but as I don't get out that often I don't have that problem. They always reminds me of attending allnighters at scooter runs with my mates, before marriage & kids put a stop to it all. 4. Edwin Starr - I Have Faith In You I never knew this until I bought a copy of SOS on Ric-Tic and turned it over. Just superb, mind you Edwin could do no wrong as far as I was concerned. 5. Ray Pollard - The Drifter I used to drive the kids mad with this in the car, could play it over & over again.

If this is the case, is he prosecuting the assailant for assault?

Is There Room For This Type Of Behaviour
Agree with Garv. I get sick and tired of So&So did this and So&So did that. Either name names (having proof of allegations) or just keep quiet! IMO.

No Longer An Underground Scene
Whilst at work today I picked up a holiday brochure to flick through, whilst working at Twickenham station. The holiday brochure was for Cleethorpes (Grimsby & The North East Lincolnshire Wolds), there were a couple of things that made me laugh in it. Firstly the following statement, and I quote: "Located within the resort of Cleethorpes, the Winter Gardens has provided entertainment for over 50 years, so put your dancing shoes and take a trip down memory lane." Funny, how they are promoting something that they plan on knocking down?? The second thing was the adverts for events during April 2006, sandwiched between the Cleethorpes Dance Festival and the Continental Market was: Northern Soul, Winter Gardens, Kingsway, Cleethorpes. It was also listed for August. Not to mention the Scooter Rally listed for July. There I was thinking Northern Soul (not to mention Scooter Rallies) was an underground scene. How wrong I was, all you need is to promote your next event as a tourist attraction. P.S. This is not a dig at the promoters, I'm assuming the council own the Winter Gardens and they've added it to the listings. It just made me smile at work that's all.

Clarence Jackson
I was reading about Clarence Jackson's, If The Shoe Don't Fit, on the forgotten oldies thread and it got me wondering. I bought this a while back off Ebay, after hearing it one evening at These Old Shoes. It wasn't until after I bought it that I found I already had it on CD (Goldmines - Wigan Casino 25th Anniversary). Anyway what I'd like is can anyone confirm that this is an original, just seemed to me that it doesn't sound like a 1974 release (does that make sense? ), thanks. Also I've posted up a soundfile in the gallery for people to listen to. >> Click Here <<
