I'd love to know where Ray is as well, last I heard was he was working at a Radio Station somewhere near Wrexham, I got to know Ray very well when he worked for Sunset Radio in Manchester. Regards Alan
  2. As Daryl correctly points out here that although the titles are identical "I'm just nobody" the songs are entirely different, my copy is on Canadian Columbia 4-43028, sounds early 60T's infact it has a definate country and western feel. When I first spotted the Polydor version on John Manship's Auction my first thoughts where whats this doing on auction and then I played the sound bite and realised the difference, the 70T's cut is a nice record and lets be fair John says it's not rare but could well be in demand over the next 12 months. Regards Alan

  6. Hi, by pure coincidence this thread has come back to life just as I have finished playing the last batch of CD's sent to me by you kind folks, as you probably remember I took part in the first CD swap but when it came to the second swap I ruled myself through the fact that I was quite poorly and I didn't want to let the swap team down, anyway CD's started to land through the letter box and then a week or so later I saw Chris and informed that he asked you guys if you would send me a CD even though I wasn't in the team to which I greatly appreciate. The CD's I received were of the highest quality, absolutely great listening, at what I like the best is listening to sounds that you have never heard before, the only problem being it extends your wants list. Anyway it looks like a third swap is about to be organised and I would appreciate it Chris if I could come back on the list as although I'm still poorly I feel I could do a CD now, but one thing someone has mentioned which I think is a really valid point and that is the volume of CD's arriving through the door you can't really do any of them real justice and if you do play them quite alot then you aren't listening to them all, I'm not sure what the answer is because if you make the team smaller say 15 people then that would easier to handle as far as the amount of disc's arriving but it wouldn't be fair on the others, perhaps if we split the contributors up into 2 groups with one group providing a CD to the other group and then after an agreed time the original receiving group supplying the CD to the original providers, only a suggestion. The theme I believe should be just to provide good solid soul music that you believe in and want to share with others. Regards Alan
  7. Yesterday at the Manchester City v Birmingham City at half time where we normally have to listen to Oasis, The Doves or Joy Division not that I have any objections to them but to my absolute surprise over the speakers came the great Al Kent with "You got to pay the price" I was stunned. Can I draw on the wealth of knowledge on this site and ask a question about a Charles Mintz 45 called "Give the man a break" b/w "Finders Keepers", now I believe this recordcame out twice, once on the Abbott label number 2011 and also on Uplook number 12270, does anyone know which was the first release and also any idea of value. I personally have never seen the Abbott label before it says it was distributed by Golden Records, New York which I'm certain I've seen on a record before but which one I can't remember. Any help would be appreciated. TIA Regards Alan
  10. I can understand how James feels about this as the very same thing happened to me a few years ago when a bootleg of "True Fine Boy" by Saundra Edwards was played and I was next up to DJ and was really looking forward to airing my genuine Jobete Acetate which I had recently acquired, I must admit it totally pissed me off, I dont think like Ivor says that its one up manship to me it's just purely down to so called collectors playing bootlegs and even worst playing current big money tunes from recently released CD's or mp3's and it does happen as once when I was passing over to a very well known DJ / collector he said to me "Alan can you hang on a few minutes because if the CD player doesn't work you will have to continue DJ'ing until the next one arrives as I have no vinyl with me , just a couple of Goldmine CD's". Regards Alan
  11. Can't comment on whether you are a bastard or not mate, however can comment on the Intro's tremendous dancer on Jamie "Stop look listen, I have a white demo, paid £50 for it about 10 years ago, seriously underrated tune, seeing as you are now a happy bunny let her have the shoes at £50 else who knows next time it might cost you the full £150. Regards Alan
  12. Great news Mark, thanks to chalkies easy instructions I am set up ready to go. good luck mate. Regards Alan
  13. Hi Mike, when I click the link I get page not found. Regards Alan
  14. I do understand why alot of recordings remained in the can and weren't sanctioned for release by Motown's infamous quality control team because although we like them most would not have stood a chance commercially, however when we talk about such sublime soul music as "All I do" by either artist then in my opinion Motown made a big mistake, as a Motown collector I would love to have seen this released especially on the traditional black & silver UK Tamla Motown logo, mouth watering. Motown at it's very very best. Regards Alan
  15. Hi Chris, hope you are well, looking forward to seeing you hopefully at the 3 Greyhounds next week, I have a Cameo and Parkway US listing somewhere I will dig it out and bring it next Saturday if that's not too late. Regards Alan
  16. Look out for an equally brilliant version of the same song by the great Brenda Holloway also un-issued, however there is one issued version by Stevie Wonder I think LP only. Regards Alan

I would say around £250 to £275 for a demo and up to £350 for a issue. Regards Alan
  18. Great track and if my memory serves me right wasn't there also a brilliant version by The Marvelettes on the Sophisticated Soul album. Regards Alan
  19. hi nev, any chance of a sound file of the commands 45. Regards Alan
  20. Yes it's a real record it's just not a genuine release it was unreleased at the time it was recorded which I would estimate around 1967 - 1968, like chalky has mentioned The Ringleaders were called The Four Temples, I knew there was a connection. whats this about anything that came out before 1970 is cheesey where's that rediculous statement come from !!!!!!!!!!! Regards Alan
  21. Hi there, it's not by The Ringleaders that was just the cover up name for the artist, it was actually found on a virtue studio acetate and believed to be by The Four Temples, the releases on MPac are bootlegs, I also seem to remember some kind of connection between The Four Temples and The Ringleaders. You say cheesey in my opinion there is nothing cheesey about this record it's an absolute gem of a tune. Regards Alan
  22. For me it would have to be a very close run thing between "All I do............" by Tammi Terrell unissued Motown or "What should I do" by Little Anne unissued Topper. Regards Alan
  23. If anyone is selling or swappng a kidney I'll have it, Regards Alan
  24. Hi Pete, sorry to hear you may be selling your Ska, Bluebeat collection, I know it's your passion, and it's also mine so I know how you must feel and I always feel it's sad when someone has to get rid of collections it's taken so long to build. Regards Alan
  25. Bit of a sickener this John, I have been dealing with you for close on 26 years and I also thought I met the criteria through the number of purchases this year, I spent the bulk of my insurance money with you when I had my records stolen in 1981 and still no list 1000 for me, ok I may not have spent many many thousands of pounds but I would have thought steady business would have counted for something. please remove me from your mailing list. Regards Alan
