Tim Harris, Don't Say, Timco
I've got it on Timco, I see it's in an old Manship on Menzola for £600, is the Timco a re-press? Has it ever been played out?

(new) Northern Soul Top 500 Book Launch Event
It shouldn't have cost that much to put "licensed from Toller" on the back of them.

Inspirations
We put a version on a Kent CD before then but it may have been a different take. The CD just got deleted so snap 'em up quick

Goldsoul- Inspirational Thinking?
That's the feller I've now ssen the original thread and I would have thought the opening post on this one would have been better placed on that one. Perhaps a merge is on the cards.

Goldsoul- Inspirational Thinking?
That's very interesting, I've never heard of much German resistance and couldn't believe a whole nation would be going along with such disgusting behaviour in their name. it's heartening to know this happened and I wonder how other German resistance to Naziism manifested itself; the communists etc were presumably purged. s to the thread was it in response to something specific or some sort of controversial ploy to promote the re-hash of that book? I've not seen the original but thought it was a good way of making a few bob, I wish I'd thought of it. Those quotes from punters were incredible though; 500 different ways of saying nothing.

Overkill Again?
We were here first so they should shut down all the others!

21st Century
It's all documented on the Kent CD LA's Silver Soul. There are a lot of inter-connections but I seem to remember the Primers were also the Vines and separate from the Pentagons crowd.

Pameline - The Detroit Executives - Cool Off
The TPs looked too new to me, I have a sneaking suspicion John got Popcorn to repress a few hundred, sign them and sell them. Technically re-releases and legal but not quite what we hoped they were. Pure speculation but I bet I'm not far off

The Mother Of All Broken Record Disasters
I don't know about Mike's but when the broken one arrived it was the only known copy. I think one has turned up since though.

Vicki Baines
Not as far as I remember but that's not very far, I'll let you know when i find it again.

Venue Prices
There are also a few promoters who do it for the crack or kudos and can afford to subsidise it for a while, which is up to them but sometimes a bit tough on the competition. I must point out I've never really suffered from this in London, it's just an observation.

Mine's actually an original studio acetate i found in the Carlin collection; from NYC interestingly.

The Mother Of All Broken Record Disasters
That's tough Harry but the point about the Counts was it was the only known copy and there was no master tape!

Northern Soul - What Are The Worst Mixes?
I agree about the Ovations, when I heard the master it sounded like a different recording. Pick up the Kent Ovations CD for the best sound. Jean Carter on Decca is grim, but the alt take Associated acetate I found with the Carlin stuf sounds great! Gloria Hill is about the worst and the Grapevine EQ on Betty Boo must have been done by a reggae geezer, it's all bass.

100 Club Sounds
That were me. Most of mine have been acetates or master tapes but a few vinyl off the top of my head- Jimmy Andrews Big City Playboy Sammy Ambrose Dreamsville Trends Not Too Old To Cry Johnny Maestro Steppin Out Kurt Harris Emperor Wanderers You Can't Run Away Harvey Averne Never Learned And who could forget Bobby Valentino Bad Breath? Lots of Keb's things were simultaneous with Stafford, I sold him the Moments Hog thing on acetate when we didn't know what it was and one called When The City Sleeps by someone.

Wigan
You can see why they wanted to censor you though. Badges have got to be the naffest aspect of the scene, when they started coming out with them, they reminded me of the stickers my parents would put in the car windows for each of the places we'd visited; and my folks weren't very hip. That's why you'll never get an authentic 6TS badge, just lovely vinyl.

Price Needed For Malcolm Hayes On Okeh
Gotta be a ton, two great rare sides waiting for their time in the sun. and probably an LA only press I'd venture?

Neil (nogger) Allen
Top bloke from waaaaaaaaay back but always a big part of the scene. His Italian needs some work but his soul's just fine.

People Fighting On The Soul Scene At Soul Night
That was a horrible one, Jamie was a great young guy and it changed his life, we hardly ever saw him again. The fight was from the Phoenix before when Big Bob a well known London mod had beaten up Baz (I think) after the do outside the venue. Bob wasn't at the club the month after so Craig, Baz and another bloke who was a psycho I never saw before or after went into the bogs and beat up / damaged Jamie who was also a mod but had nothing to do with the original ruck. I'm pretty sure it was the non-soulie one who bit the top part of the ear off. The whole incident was ugly but there was a funny post script when Craig arranged to meet Bob in an alley way a few weeks later for a one on one. Craig turned up with a tooled-up gang while Bob was on his own. They agreed it would be one on one, though obviously that wasn't very likely. Craig whipped out a sock with snooker balls in it, whirled it round but the sock split and the balls went flying and he was left with an empty sock in his hand! I think after that fiasco they said they'd call it a draw.
