  1. HI ALL I PAID £100 FOR A UK DEECA ISSUE COPY, LAST YEAR VG++, IT WILL DO ME, UNLESS I SEE A DEMO DAVE K
  2. Hi All Martyn I am sure the TRIP label is 100% legit, as a reissue "golden oldies label" However the first bootlegs & illicit recordings started to appear in late 67, the OTIS REDDING/JIMI HENDRIX LP LIVE MONTERAY, was a big seller at Richard Branson's.. VIRGIN SHOP Another Jimi Hendrix bootleg LP was the LULU SHOW, HENDRIX READDING & MITCHELL sang "HEY JOE" LIVE STOPPED IN HE MIDLE TO PLAY A DEDICATION TO THE CREAM with "sunshine of your love" and HENDRIX say "are we still on the air"? also a live version of "WILD THING" At the Virgin shop I got from Mr Branson a copy of Bob Dylan's "talking bear mountain picnic massacre Blues" LP The 1st bootlegs that have rare soul on, are from 68, anything earlier soul wise are Private copy's I have a copy of Chubby Checker Discotheque b/w the Tams ""hey g irl", very rare, Roy Gelder has a couple of early Bootlegs pre-dating my copy, so that means 1968 was the big year ,I think? DAVE K
  3. HI ALL New to me, did you know the track "there's a riot going on" is 0 seconds long, mentioned on some 1st issue LP's cover but not on labels?? DAVE K

  6. HI ALL....Jimmy Raye's "Philly Dog around the World" on the dark blue label is a tuff one I have 2 almost identical copy's and it's only difference are small marks in the matrix, a hard one to spot with the naked eye, record has a brilliant B side by the way DAVE K

:hatsoff2:HI ALL ...Any marks that are put on records apart from the ones that are done by the manufacture, will devalue the record, this is why even the run of the mill, REGGAE 45 fetches good prices these days as you never see them in ex condition, In the late 6T's there was a trend to make SOUL & REGGAE 45s look like US copies or JA dub blanks, many records had the centres knocked out also, up to the mid 7T's it was very common to scratch your name on to a rare NORTHERN SOUL 45, I'm am guilty of this crime, As a rule I would say it is a pointless venture to disfigure a rare record today, If you are privileged to own the very top sounds and one gets stolen, it would be impossible for it to be played or shown to other collectors to sell it on, the same is true with large collections as the word would get back to you (IHOPE!) from other dealers, The big problem is when a isolated case of 2 or 3 records go missing from sale boxes or DJ boxes weather they are marked or not, once the thief has passed it on you really stand no chance of getting it back as you can't prove the new owner has any knowledge of the theft and you have no platform to work of unless you reported the theft to the police at the time of the theft, So it's down to you what you do, my advice is when taking records to events get someone to keep a eye on your box, this in the main has worked well for most dealers, the words "watch my box" is better then writing on a rare dusty DAVE K
  8. 9. HI ALL PETE that's a real nice badge you have, but can't help you as it's new to me also, value must be £30 min, if it is the 1st Aussie related N/S badge that price would be way out, the map reminds me of a rabbit DAVE K
  10. HI ALL....I HAVE ALWAYS HAD THE BIG 45 ISSUE OF THIS, YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL ALWAYS WITH WHITE DEMOS, AS IT LOOKED RIGHT TO ME! BUT PETE PROVES ME WRONG, DAVE K
  11. HI TOADY BOY, Did you know in all the years I have had the record, I never ever wondered who was narrating? but it's Lyn Tait with the SKA HOOKS! I can do some toasting listen....."Stand up?.....Sit down?....Stand up?....Sit down Hhhughh! move you feet to the beat, when I say Bow you say WOW.......BOW.............................................................. OK don't join in with WOW I'm not playing any more, gonna play some Northern Soul Mate DAVE K
  12. HI ALL.....TRYING TO PUT MY TOP 10 TOGETHER, HAS PROVED TO BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME, THE BIG PROBLEM IS a)producer. b)version. c)artist. d)studio. For every reggae 45 issued in the UK, there are at least 15 in JA, most records are based on rythem tracks which can have 10 versions of a hit tune. So it is with this in mind, I have chosen a track that sounds good to my ears in 2013 as it did when I first heard it, One of the essential LPs to have in 69 was the PAMA LP "BANG BANG LULU" THIS TRACK USED TO BE ON A SOHO JUKE BOX IN 68, THE CLUB WAS THE INFAMOUSE LA DUCE, A DIVE BAR AND A PLACE WHERE I GOT RAZORED, IN A FIGHT WITH THE KILBURN MAFIA, PAMA 45 LYN TAIT & THE JETS "SOUL FOOD" HAS TO BE IN MY TOP 10 JUST ON THE FACT IT BRINGS UP FOR ME THE EARLY DAYS OF THE SKINHEAD SUB CULTURE IN 68, HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS GREAT RECORD IT IS A CLASSIC, :hatsoff2:FOR SOME REASON I CAN NOT PUT THE TRACK ON THIS WRITE UP? I WILL TRY AGAIN, HOWEVER HERES THE POSTING DAVE K BIG THANKS TO PETE SMITH FOR POSTING THE CLIP OF SOUL FOOD,

HI ALL PETE YOU ARE SPOT ON WITH THIS ONE, IF IT IS POSSIBLE TO FIND A GENUINE BLUE UK COXONE, ALL THE COXONE & STUDIO 1 LP ARE HARD TO GET NOW, MAINLY BECAUSE MOST WENT TO JAPAN IN THE 80s & 90s, and although I collected REGGAE In THE LATE 60s must confess apart from the 2 special LPs I can't remember buying any 45 release and as for LPs no one bought them except the Harries,. Last year I put my copy up for sale on SOULSOURCE for £100, not 1 offer? still we all know it's rare, DAVE K

  16. Hi All Have I been glad? you betcha!, The nightmare of overbidding used to hit me on a Saturday morning, after a Friday night on the beer, often I would go on eBay when I got in from the pub, and put bids on many items, and many time I would find out that the $16.51 bid turned out to be £1651. It's just good luck that I did not get mugged, TIP never go on line P***ed up DAVE K

  21. Hi All....On our collectors part of the Rare Soul Scene, there have been many many changes, as discussed before todays scene is made up from middle aged people who's kids have flown the nest, and have indulged themselves in a very expensive hobby, which in many cases replaces old addictions that were common on the scene? also appeals to the MOD values of being elite, To be honest the interest in buying bootlegs of any record baffles me, why spend good money on fake goods? there are many people on the scene today who not educated in the many appealing aspects the pre-internet scene offered, back in the early 70s most of the top records were not even 5 years old, yet to find them, it was hard work, and when you did get a rare find, it was easy to find a collector to buy it, The other week I was doing my yearly look at old record lists, if you take a comparison between a mid 70s SOUL BOWL list to those of today, it's amazing to see how few rare records are on Johns list and he sold no UK items, to find rare UK soul, you needed to no people like PETE WID MICK SMITH IAN CLARKE ADY C, To even stand a chance of getting the rare records that we call BRITISH. As for BOOTLEGS apart from SOUL SOUNDS LABEL no dealer would sell them and no DJ would play them, reissues have some place on the scene but they are not collectable as an example Grapevine is still a collectable label, however the Grapevine 2000 series started of selling limited demos at £20 10 years on and most are available for a £5 note, this makes the current pressed records at best worth 50p, reissues & bootlegs have as much appeal as a CD, the are a intrusion and mislead many, My point is this you are not on the rare soul scene if you don't buy RARE SOUL! DAVE K

HI ALL....Top SOUL BROTHER Neil Rushton is the man to answer this one, although not rare the TAINTED LOVE 12" is my fave release on the label for me, it come along at the right time, when the scene was shrinking, and the VA B side still sounds good DAVE K
  23. Hi All £80 for a DEMO is a great steal "well done", It's always worth reminding yourself, the golden rule in colleting SOUL 45's... a UK copy ISSUE or DEMO is always worth more than the US copy, although many collectors these days seem to want the USA copy and don't bother with the UK records or they just want the UK top rare SOUL only, however top collectors still love the UK stuff pre 73 DAVE K
