  1. WAHPOM RUDIES, I HAVE HAD THE LINKS SOUND SYSTEM ALIVE FOR THE LAST 4 HOURS, AND PLAYED A FEW FORGOTEN GEMS, AND 1 RECORD IN PARTICULAR AMUSED ME, AL T JOE HAD A COUPLE OF 45s ON THE DUKE LABEL UK, BOTH ARE WORTH HAVEING, BUT IT WAS DUKE DU 70 - IT'S A SHAME, BW DESERTION, IT IS THE DESERTION THAT I AM TALKING ABOUT, IF YOU HAVE A COPY AND SPEED IT UP TO 48 RPM, YOU HAVE A NICE BIT OF JA SOUL...DIG IT OUT IT.S MY LATEST REDISCOVERY, GREAT STUFF:ph34r: DAVE .
  2. Hi PETE YOU ARE DEAD RIGHT, THATS WHAT MAKES IT A CULT FILM? . I LOVE THE CAFE SCENE WITH THE 2 GIRLS, HE HAS 1 LINE IN 4 MINUTES OF PIONTLESS FOOTAGE, NO PETE IT RATED MORE TO DO WITH THE STYLE, AND THE CLOTHS & THE pROMOTIONAL POSTERS, THE FILM IS BAD, DAVE
  3. WHEN I USED TO LOOK AFTER Mick Smiths RECORDS AT KEELE, THAT WAS MY FEAR, NEVER REALY HAPPENED TO ME AS i USE TO HAVE MY LOVELY ASSISTANT LOUISE (Dave Welding PARTNER) KEEPING EYES OPEN, I MISS KEELE? AND THE CROWD DAVE & LOU. BIG TIM BUTCH , PAT BRADEY MISTER RIMMER, AS AN AFTER THOUGHT, WAS IT ANY OF THESE... WAS IT PAT ? COME ON SPEAK UP!..ONLY JOKEING PAT, BUT JUST IN CASE GIVE THE MAN HIS MONEY BACK! What was the record you were after you never said??? DAVE
  4. HI ALL ,,THATS NICE, DID YOU GET IT FROM MARTIN KOPEL? AS IT'S CANADIAN PRESSED FOR THE US, DAVE
  5. Hi Mick,, I have never seen that before, what does it read in the MATRIX?.. that looks to good, and I Am baffled as the Demo is meant to be be a white ;label copy!? if thats real! there got to be at least 150 & min run of 125 issues, it looks great Mick:ph34r: DAVE
  6. HI SUE, WITH THE GREATEST RESPECT, MY INTNTION WAS MORE OF "LET'S REMEMBER THE PEOPLE WHO WE MET, BY ATTENDING THE CASINO! PAST AND PRESENT. BUT ALL THE POINTS ARE VALID, WE CAN ALL IDENTIFY OURSELVES ESPECIALLY BACK IN THE EARLY 70s WITH DIFFERENT VENUES, AND THE SAME WITH THE MUSIC, I ALWAYS ASSOCIATED CERTAIN RECORDS WITH THE VENUE AND THE DJ. I THINK THE BIG DIFFERENCE WITH MYSELF AND THE MAJORITY OF ALLNIGHTER GOERS, COMING UP FROM THE SOUTH ON MY OWN, OFTEN THUMBING A RIDE (INTENTIONAL PUN), I BELIEVE IT WAS CLEARLY DIFFERENT FROM THE EXPERIENCE OF SAY LIVING IN STOKE, OR WOLVES, WHERE THERE WAS A GANG AT THE TIME72 73 THERE WERE ONLY ABOUT 10 PEOPLE FROM NORTH HEART'S INTO THE SCENE, AND ALTHOUGH I WENT MANY EVENTS FROM THE TWISTED WHEEL, JUNCTION TORCH BLETSOE AND MORE, IT WAS AT THE CASINO IN 73/ 74 THAT I FELT THAT THIS IS MY PLACE, RATHER THAN BEING ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN?, MY MATE MICK SMITH WAS A TORCH BLACKPOOL MECCA MAN, STILL IS, BUT ME I AM A CASINO MAN, HOWEVER, I AGREE THAT OTHER VENUES ON PAR WITH THE CASINO OR BETTER, AND SAMANTHA'S WAS ONE OF THE BEST OF ALL WITH JOHN VINCENT, BUT HE WAS A CASINO MAN IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT?? THE OTHER POINT IS WE ALL REMEMBER THE 23rd SEPTEMBER 1973 AS THE DAY WIGAN OPENED IT'S DOORS. APART FROM WHEN THE WHEEL CLOSED AND THE TORCH, NO OTHER EVENT IS REMEMBERED FOR THE DATE, IN THE WAY WE ALL REMEMBER 23/9/1973, EVEN IF YOU DID NOT GO?? DAVE
  7. Hi MARTYN Yep loads, but it changed to Echoes before the 8ts, thats wiped the smug grin of your face! no to be serious, I use to go to the Addison Center, and to the Kempston Rovers FC (great little venue) so it was around that time 76/7, it sounds soft the fact I want it, but it's my memorabilia I will give a free single to the 1st person who can get me a decent photo copy, lets see any one of these???? DAVE
  8. Dear Barry Normans I would like to comment on a film review, called "Soul Boy" for Christ sake, give it a chance for Heaven sake, God only knows where you are coming from with your comments of old testament, what whee you expecting, Walking on water?? I would value a review by 17 to 23 year olds, not some old pensiones....Come on Daddy "O", GET HIP! AND BE GROOVY BABY? CAN YOU DIG!. Mister Normans Do you know what makes a cult film, I like the film SCUM! thats cultism, but trust me it ain't a patch on the real Borstals, many who were also Boot Boys, as well as Football Hooligans, the early RARE SOUL SCENE was made up by this SUB CULTURE, Only a very few All Nighter goers where not Pill Heads, So my point is do you think the producer and Director did not know this? and do you think it would be fair to try and portray the real truths about the Scenes Roots as a den of Vice and thieves, Another low budget film is Del Davis "BRONCO BULLFROG" I remember a time when only when people like myself had seen the Film, to me it has a quantum jump feeling, a bit like hearing "Out on the Floor" played on Steve Wright in the Afternoon or finding a copy of "Bok to Bach" in a OXFAM Shop, The Soul Scene should be praising the efforts of "SOUL BOY" and encourage that as a Scene to engage with young people and Introduce them to SOUL, as the records are timeless. On a positive MISTER NORMANS at least your comments have a point, unlike your fellow wanker Johnathan Woss, who does he think he is? he acts like and has the manners of a London Barrow Boy, with his smutty and Uncouth Manner, GOON! DAVE (69} KIL PS I have origanal posters of BRONCO BULLDOG, if any one wants to purches copies, and the Large Posters for the Film now sell at £500+ sadley I ain't got one, I think Ady C, Jim S, and the Spanish Reggae collector are the only poeple that own them, there was a smaller Repro put out by the film makers about 5 years ago at £10 each, they may still be some left???
  9. HI WHAT YEAR I CANT REMEMBER I THINK 76, BUT I REMEMBER I USED TO GO TO BEDFORD WITH Mick Smith ON A THURSDAY NIGHT, THE EAGLE SOUL CLUB EVENT RUN BY "FRANCO" WITH DJs TONY WORRET HAMMY SO THEY WOULD NO THE YEAR? AS I SAY I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A COPY, I REMEMBER SELLING THAT NIGHT WITH PETE WID BUT THAT NO USE?TO MANY CAPS MATE FAR TO MANY. DAVE ?? OH YES!! KILWORTH
  10. Hi All ......the VAVA JUST DID NOT TAKE OFF, I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE SEEMED TO GET ENGAGED OR MARRIED THAT SUMMER? DIFFERENT TODAY, BACK THEN IT WAS STILL CORTING?.... THERE IS NO REAL REASON THAT THE VAVA DID NOT WORK AS SOME GREAT RECORDS WERE PLAYED AND THE BEST FROM THE TORCH & BLACKPOOL MECCA GOT EVEN BIGGER? I HAD A ORIGINAL BADGE, BUT IT FADED AWAY WHEN WASHED, WOULD LOVE A PROPER ONE BACK, ALSO IF I REMEMBER RIGHT IT WAS PRETTY LITE WHEN YOU CON PAIR IT TO THE TORCH & THE CASINO. i AGREE IT WAS GOOD, HOWEVER A CHIP SHOP NEAR BYE SOLD ME A MEAT PIE CHIPS PARCHED PEAS & GRAVY, HOWEVER THE PIE HAD NO FILLING IN IT? SO I THREW IT UP THE WALL! NEVER BEEN BACK TO BOLTON SINCE:ph34r: DAVE
  11. Hi All ... What I say is this, it's your record fact you have paid for it from the time you put a date on the cheque, inform the seller that it's yours and if you want to sell it on ask him for the better offer details?? quite simply this is no mistake is it, he taking you for a **nt, ask yourself am I a **nt or ask this if the person was say at a fair and excepted the Cheque, only to contact you a week later for the record back, as he had a better of! would you be a stupid **nt sending it back to him??? I say NAME AND SHAME HIM< if you are a bit scared PM me and I will help you out, DAVE(anytime every time)KIL
  12. Hi All.....This was discussed a few weeks back, But I have to say You would think by now, more info would be known about the History. This is what I know my 1st copy in the link came from Con tempos in Hanaway Street London, 1971 it was Denise La Selle "love Reputation" Chess label, which had a UK release on the excellent Chess/Janus Mobile Disco LP. The next bit..in 1972 at the DIVE BAR in HITCHIN, Mick Smith Played "just like the weather" Nolan Chance, on a all blue Constellation 45, right from that point, it become my #1 all time favorite record (still is), at that time almost every record that Mick played at the DIVE, I wanted. not long after Chris Burton released it on his Out of the past label (collecting OOTP was a great way for me to discover and take in rare Soul, a must complete series of 45s) in 1973 also just before the Casino opened I got Mak Johnson "Beautiful Place", Otis Smith "let her go" Perception, and Nolan Chance "just like" from Pete Waterman £1 each originals, and in mint condition, again Pete must have sold up about this time the smiling face logo he used well before Acid House, my 1st Demo was from Soul Bowl £1.75 in 74 cheers John, I then got a Shooting Star issue at the casino, so I had them all or so I thought, I remember Addy C returning from a stateside trip with some great records "What" Judy Street, Herbert Hunter, I got from him, but it was around this time, I heard not from Addy but as a rummer that Addy had the rarest record in the UK Nolan Chance on BUNKY? Now I can state I have never spoke to Addy about the record, However if he said he had it, it's 100% true, and it's existence is also very plausible, as BUNKEY was a top DJ & record Label Owner as well as a Producer, The most logical explanation is he was so impressed with the record he made sure that his 10 most valued Friends had a copy with his name associated to it's release on Constellation, as the record has Bill Shepherds name on it, this is the only explanation, that I can Give. To conclude the Denise La Selle was first issue on a Blue label Tarpon & then on the rarer Green label as yet no instrumental has been located, but there is a great semi instrumental of it the value of the "Just Like the Weather" are min:- OOTP £20+. BLUE PLAIN £150+(there are counterfeit from 73 so make sure first worth £30+), Star Label design £175+, Demo £250+ there are Bunkey Bootlegs and other releases about, I have just put the most significant ones down. I think your answer is best coming from Addy Himself..don't you:ph34r: DAVE KIL

  14. Hi All...When I worked for him in the mid 7ts all was fine, However he made a big mistake with his money, and became a worker holic! it's a shame, but true, This was his downfall, and he worked himself to Death, a Realy nice man RIP DAVE KIL

YES! TOADY BOY. YOU WIN A PRIZE. THE B SIDE IS SPECIAL. I THINK GOOD FUNK. DOES THIS RECORD STILL FETCH MONEY ANY MORE? AND I FORGOT THE FUNK SIDE IS ONLY ON THE UK ISSUE, ACTUALLY, IHAVE PLAYED MAINLY REGGAE THIS WEEK, SO FAR MY LP OF THE WEEK IS TBL-110 BYRON LEE "REGGAE BLAST OFF" SOME REALLY GOOD VERSIONS BY BYRON LEE (NOT EVERY ONES CUPPA TEA! IS MISTER LEE) BUT THE LAW IS ALWAYS WORTH A SPIN MOW AND AGAIN ALSO POP-A-TOP:ph34r: DAVE
  18. Hi All....And fellow droogs viddy this, as a dyslexic individual, I accept ye criticism argot my Pauling grandma, HOWEVER I am self educated, as when you lot were rushing home from school to watch Hop Long Casiday or the Disco Kid, I was to busy on the run from Approved Schools and Kids Homes when you had to sleep with. 1 eye open just in case a masters hand crept under the sheets, As a kid I traveled the country, often going missing for weeks with the knowledge that when caught I would have the crap knocked out of me! as such, on leaving school my aspirations for my future did not include studying a Pitman's coarse to become a officiant security, and Borstol Boys train as brick layers or painters and decorators and learn intellectualism by the nod of the head, plus you add the fact that I am West Ham United with the Spirit of 69, which means, I am the real McCoy...this makes me a true scholar from the school of hard knocks. But I do accept that this is important to you, so I would suggest to get my drift! of story telling, read 2 books from William S Burroughs Dead Fingers Talk a true cult fiction Book, also the name of a great Band that I worked with in 1976 from Hull. and his classic the SOFT MACHINE, the story of 2 people on a LSD trip on a train, both of them are Homosexuals, To conclude D theDRUG broad base, transpires and genuine openness is greater than the sum of it's part?...a true response sent with SOUL, plus the fact that I was speeding might have played a part in the story, so hurry up as I have been offerd 1 hour this weekend!!! DAVE(the PEN) KIL
  19. Hi All I can remember years back "When GODs Dog was a Pup" several people finding this record, as far as I can remember it was a RCA MOTOWN Reissue, There is a Frank Wilson RCA Copy also. It looks great but it's not worth much about £10, keep it for the collection or DJ with it as it is quite rare, DAVE

Hi All & Toady Boy with it's matrix so close but clearly a promotional inst, that is defenantly not dub, roots or remotely J.A in sound, more uptempo, mid 7ts Disco is as close as i can place it, or as descibed before not a million miles away from a classic ne UK Discovery? I have played it over the phone to 2 people who are reggae specialists and to 2 rare soul collectors, they all say what you have said. The point is i have had it for years never played it, as it's a mint spare. In saying that, there are some excellent FUNK & SOUL Recordings from J.A, that were made for the local J.A areas of New York & Canada, Billy Cole comes to mind as he is actually....?? MOST RECORDS BY JIM(MY) CHAMBERS ARE GOOD AS HE IS JIMMY CLIFF. "LOVE DON'T COME EASY"- CUBE 75, WAS A MICK SMITH FIND and Keith Minshal PLAYED IT FOR ABOUT 1 MONTH AT WIGAN,,TRUE. As I say I don't reckon this is a mis-press at all, but a DJ promo, shame theres no info. Although i have a Deck with a USB plug, I still don't know how to record & upload my records??? An easy info chart or idiots guide to step by step "how to do it is needed" ? I will try again layer to-day, Cheers, DAVE
  21. HI ALL...SORRY IT'S TAKEN A FEW DAYS TO GET BACK, THE NEWS ABOUT THE MALE FERSION IS IT WAS NOT THE SOUND CLIP THAT WAS KINDLY POSTED, AS MY MATE HAS LISTEN TO IT, AND SAYS THE TUNE HAS THE IDENTICAL BACKING AS THE TIMI TURO, COULD BE! THE DODGY VERSION, HOWEVER HIS SORT OF PEOPLE ARE ABOVE THAT SORT OF THING, AND ARE QUITE ELITEST IN THERE ECLECTIC TASTE AND KNOWLAGE, INFACT THERE MUSIC POLICY IS ANYTHING GOES EXCEPT NORTHERN SOUL. SOUNDS TO ME THEY ARE EX RARE SOUL PEOPLE, WHO PROBERLY MORE INTO "KEB D" & ROGER NICKLES(GREAT MAN)FROM WILLINHALL. ALL I WOULD SAY IS AS A OLD SCHOOL SOUL FAN, TIMI YUROs "IT WILL NEVER BE OVER" IS NORTHERN SOUL TO MY EAR HOLES, BUT I WOULD SAY THAT, WOODEN EYE?? DAVE K
  22. HI YEP WE HAVE ALL HAD A GO. THE BILLY PAUL "LET THE DOLLER CIRCULATE", PLAYED SO WELL THAT PEOPLE WOULD PAY GOOD MONEY FOR IT! "back in the day when gods dog was a pup"! DAVE
  23. HI ALL IT WAS THE CUT FROM THIS LP THAT I HEARD FIRST & BEST CUT IN MY OPINION, PLAYED IN THE STOKE AREA, ALONG WITH BABY HIT AND RUN - CONTORS ALSO OF A CHEAPO LP, I DON'T KNOW WHERE THE ISLEY BROSS, "TELL ME IT'S JUST A RUMOR BABY" CAME FROM BUT IF PROMOTED THEY WOULD HAVE HAD THE SAME SUCCES AS "GHOST IN MY HOUSE" 1973/4 WHAT A GREAT 2 YEARS FOR US ALL. DAVE KIL
  24. HI ALL,,,,,THATS AN OLD ALEN DAY DJ TRICK, THAT HE USED TO GREAT EFFECT AT BLETSOE & THE JUNCTION. IT USED TO MAKE MY HAIR GROW BACKWARDS!...OR WAS THAT A SIDE EFFECT FROM MIXING BOMBERS AND GREEN & CLEARS....DON'T MATTER HE WAS THE BEST AT IT LIVE #1 DJ:ph34r: DAVE KIL

HI ALL...HAVE YOU GOT A COPY OFF BARRY BIGGS "PLAY ALL NIGHT" IT'S THE FLIP OF "PLAY ALL DAY" GREAT TUNE HOWEVER I HAVE HAD A MINT COPY IN MY SPARES BOX FOR MANY YEARS. AND PLAYING IT THROUGH IT HAS A UPTEMPO INSTREMENTAL DISCOISH IN THE FLASHER PACE WITH SIMON SOUSAN BRASS & A FEMALE BACKIN BIT ON A COUPLE OF BREAKS NEAR THE END. MATRIX IS DIFFERANT FROM WHAT IT SHOULD BE DAY 101- B THE LETTER G AT 3 O-CLOCK & #1 AT 9 O-CLOCK EVEY OTHER COPY HAS THE PROPER B SIDE DYN 101 ON TE A SIDE IS A HAND WRITTEN (NICK W) I WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR COMMENTS.
