Northernsoul Memorabilia
HI SOMEWHERE I WROTE ABOUT MY ACCOUNT OF THE LAVINE IS SHIT A FEW MOTHS BACK IF YOU WANT TO DIG IT OUT? ALSO THE FIRST BADGES WERE ABOUT 1 1/2" WHITE CIRCLE, HAND WRITTEN "LAVINE IS SHIT" THEY HAD A SAFTY PIN ON THE BACK, I SAT IN THE RECORD BAR AND MADE THEM MYSELF, AS I SAY THIS IS MY PART IN AT THE START, IT WAS A TIME WHEN THE OLD STALWARTS OF THE MECCA AND ALL IT STOOD FOR, FELT THAT THE FAITH HAD NOT BEEN KEPT AND IANS BLATENT REFUSAL TO PLAY SOUNDS THAT HE ALONE OWNED, IN FAVOUR FOR RECORDS THAT ANYONE COULD BY FROM RECORD CORNER? Who Where The Big Boys Back In The Day?
The Bedford Coach was a good one to be on, and yes it was the SOUL BROTHERS coach, I remember Charlie Frost from Norwich while living in Letchworth organising a mini bus to Wigan, Taffy gave me a photo of the event, but it is so poor its not worth putting on, The thing I remember about that night I had a few wraps on me to sell? as soon as we parked up next to the Casino I can remember the Bedford coach across the road (see my photo) and Charlie got pulled by the Squad and frisked (charlie never took any Drugs) while I just walked by saying "constanoon aftable" The Bedford Coach, didn't Bootlace run the Stoke Coach as he fitted myself and ChrissG on it at Blackpool Mecca going to Wigan? I think Ady C comments about traveling to all nighters in the early-mid 7ts is apt as we really payed our dues going up "t"north DAVE KIL

Five And A Penny?
Pete did you not notice the JM stands for John Manship? I guess you did, All I can say is back in the 7ts I use to love to go junking and looking through piles of records to find that new sound, this was a hard find?. I think you should remember now and again that back then with no price guides no internet, and all the knowlage we now posses, finding a Carl Douglas or a Fathers Angels Issue was like finding a needle in a haystack, hence the prices of records today, FIVE OF A PENNY was a huge record and it got the dancers danceing and that is what its all about aint it? it also sold very well as a reissue, so it must have something going dont you think? Okay Who Is Going To Tell Him The Truth?
THATS WHAT I THOUGHT, THEY WERE A IMPOSSIBLE FIND IN THE 7ts, AND MY COPY WAS A DEMO, AND THEN IT WAS BOOTED AS A DEMO BUT GIVEN A COLOR CHANGE, OR IT MIGHT BE A REISSUE? I GOT A MINT ISSUE FOR $20 THE OTHER WEEK, IT STILL SOUNDS AS GOOD AS IT DID BACK IN THE DAY CHEERS FOR A RESPONCE THAT MAKES YOU AN OFFICIAL SOUL BRUVVER DAVE KIL

ANY WAY HERES A IMAGE OF THE SINGLE IN JM TALK:- ITS A PRISTENE COPY OF THE FIRST ISSUE, MINT CONDITION, AND A RARE COLLECTORS OF UK SOUL VINAL, A MUST HAVE ITEM... DAVE KIL

HI ALL...I BROUT THE VOWS ISSUE AT THE CASINO 75 ALONG WITH TOMMY GOOD ON CANADIAN TAMLA, FOR £1.50 EACH, BOTH RECORDS ARE CLASSICS, AS THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I HERED THE VOWS, I THOUGHT HELLO! THIS IS TO DARN SOULFUL!(PUN INTENTIAL) AT THAT TIME I NEVER APRECIATED ITS TRUE VALUE AND SOLD IT FOR £10 IN THE MID 8ts TO RICHARD DOMMAR, I HAVE SINCE GOT A TOMMY GOOD, BUT ON US GORDY, BUT THE VOWS IS NOT CHEAP AND IN TRUTH HARDLY EVER TURNS UP ON LISTS? SOUND OF THE 6ts IS A GOO PROGRAME AND NOT TO BE MISSED. AND I ALSO GOT A QUANTUM FEELING WHEN BRIAN PLAYED IT TODAY DAVE KIL

Nita Rossi - Something To Give - Piccadilly Demo
WARNING! all the UK - PYE Labels are so sensitive to PHD that if you mess with them, things only get worse. My advice to all record UK Label collectors is don,t mess with a record in any way, as you can f**k them up especially the PYE labels, and don't try and put centres into records that have been "Dinked" this adds no value to a record at all, and is the activity of someone who is still "blocked" from the night before. Clean the vinyl that's all, unless you have a very good knowledge of record restoration. DAVE KIL,

Pat Brady Auction
I have just spent 20 minutes on Pats Site, and I cant find anything that would indicate that once the auction has ended there is a still time to make a proxy bid?. in fact it makes a complete nonsense of biding in any auction, if someone is allowed to enter a bid unknown to the public? Best thing is to ask Pat and request that he publishes auction rules on his site in full, and better than that let him state the issue on Soul Source, I have Known Pat for many years and to my knowledge he will give you a straight answer to this situation DAVE KIL

Glen Miller
Is it me Pete, well it cant be as £400+ speaks for itself, but when it comes down to prices for rare UK 45,s why do I think that's cheap? for this record, or am I to sentimental when it comes to real hard to buy records, as my DEMO is mint - , and its better than Roy's, and he thinks the same as me why sell this one and who to..like the GM i like to know were records land up, and do the buyers of rare records truly understand what a rare record is? well done i know that you are happy with the sale and that's what counts at the end of the day DAVE KIL

I could not help but notice that Pete S is selling his Jon Andrews on EBay...No matter the situation i would not part with the crown jewels, as there may be a recession but rare is rare to me? I have always regretted that I sold the best of my US collection due to Thatcher Te old Bag. DAVE KIL

Chris Savory R.i.p
HOW VERY SAD TO HERE THIS NEWS, I First met Chris at the Casino in the early days, even used to sell HBS for him, He pathed the way for the advancement in Soul music in many ways similar to Dave Godin, He did great write up,s in Black Echos (there is a issue that he writes about myself at the Casino, if any body has a copy of that article I would be most appreciate it?) There was much going for the late Chris, perhaps the fact he started the concept of Record Fairs would be a fitting salute, I remember Mick Smith and myself going to I think the 1st one in Cambridge in 77. "God Bless you Chris R.I.P". DAVE(DTHEDRUG)KILWORTH
