  1. it's all about how malleable the person you're working with is, and when to pounce, also you have to produce the CD from your bag in record time and I don't carry them around, but since you've lain the gauntlet I might......
  2. The Frank Hutson was tune of the weekend for me, but it was great to hear Benny Harper, I can't dance that fast though, I love the bit at the end when he sings: I want my Mummy! I know I'm a bit biased but GarethX was the man of the moment - deffo
  3. yeah I know him, he's a great guy, used toaccost me everyday in reception. I last saw himin prestatyn
  4. British wife swap was great for music, so I think that maybe the US ones are re-edited here
  5. I've worked at GMTV for 6 years but have never managed to get any soul music on (apart from once I used "running away" by Sly and the Family Stone on a piece about a dog who kept running away) but today I used Wade in the Water - Marlene Shaw, on a competition VT featuring Tony Blackburn, I assured the producer that Tony would approve, knowing his love of soul. As we were doing several VTs, I tried to push a few more but she wasn't having it! It'll go to air this monday.
  6. thanks foor the response, I got several downloadables. I'm listening to it now. It took ages for me to get it too, i love slash-your-wrists soul but this did sound modern "lite" to me at first, and then I just woke up to to it and I can't get enough now
  7. anyone got a real audio of this? i need cheering up
  8. maybe I'll get it out at the CIS warm up if anyone requests .....
  9. sounds dead juicy - spill some beans!
  10. what kind of club in east london was it? I'm curious to know if it's ever been played in Northern clubs....
  11. Groovin' with Mr Blow - Mr Blow. Has anyone ever played that? I've only ever heard it in the indie clubs. Talk about guilty pleasure, it's funny when you love something even though you know it's awful. Maybe I should've put it in the pop records thread

  13. Looking forward to Saturday night Nick, and to seeing you guys at it again
  14. Why such aversion to the word feminist? I've always considered it the basis of equality. Is anyone else going to supply a definition or will that be venturing into Bernard Manning minefield?
  15. If these moaning feminists really believed they are good enough to do the job then they should turn down bookings at 'all girl line ups' because by letting yourself be booked at one of these nights you are admitting you are not good enough to cut the mustard on a level playing field. Or maybe you really know you're not good enough, and that's why you stick together? link
  16. cool! hope he can keep still to cue records!
  17. yes it is, did you go? I couldn't.
  18. Check out the website of my mate's band. They're touring Germany, Spain and France at the moment but I can't see details of the dates, maybe Jorg knows....? https://www.theinciters.com/sites/fs_ie.html
  19. eek, I really love the Mel Torme version - rousing!
  20. I remember, ding ding ding for 'king hours, no breaks and no key change - shocking
  21. Hi Dave, And is it anything to do with Hamilton Bohannon or is it just coincidence? Looks about the same vintage too...
  22. the two of us - Danny Cobis
  23. Did anyone see G2 in the Guardian today? There was a feature of an artist, Christian Marclay, who does unspeakable things with vinyl (Warning: this article might offend), anyway, the illustration features a montage of the cover of Michael Jackson's Thriller LP (as the head and torso), the "foot stomping Music" Lp by Sidney Barnes (for the crotch and thighs) and "the first Roxy Music" Lp (for the feet). Anyone know this Sid Barnes Lp? Is it a tribute to Hamilton Bohannon, which went big in the right hands at Prestatyn last year?
  24. The Fisher Price is only good if you want to hear "Au Claire De La Lune" over and over. What Dave really needs is the Camper van record player, it's MORE portable and will amuse everyone who sees it.
  25. yes he was. What about Muttie Collier?
